Here I thought I had to go to Salt Lake City to get microfilm work. There are 2 locations in a realtivly short distance. Will have to check them out.
Thanks

I am pretty sure that Lena Olsen is my greatgreat grandmother as when I provided the name, she said it was G grandma Lena.
In one of the responses in the past day or so, someone provided a link to a Norway site that mentioned that her last name of Watney, which is how we know her, may be the farm she lived on, Vatney I think was the spelling. so maybe it might have been Lena Olsen Vatney in Norway?

On Abraham and his migration to the US. I found this the other day doing some research. Not exactly sure it is him but if I remember right, the name fit.
Passenger List in New York
Arrived April 3, 1882
Port of Departure: Antwerp, Belgium
Place of Origin: Norway
Ship: Pieter de Coninck
Port of Arrival: New York
Line: 24
Need to do some more research on this link.

Hi, I saw his arrival on Castle Garden now, registered as "Abraham Tonnesar"

Being a Norwegian, Tonnesar must be a misspelling of the lastname Tønnesen, so I would say this looks very much like your guy! Good catch!

Jan Peter

ps: "Lena Olsen" is most likely the woman you're looking for. But it's like looking for Mr John Doe.., her name is quite common, and my point was that it can not be the Lena Olsen who was found emigrating from Kristiansand on Sept. 19, 1879.
We're still looking for a "Lena Olsen", but the one from Sep-19-1879 was a "namesake"...

So how would that explain how he was able to sell the farm in 1833 if he arrived in the US in 1832? Maybe the wrote via e-mail?

Another researcher with the Lista book is also helping Mr. Webb in the last couple days. We've all been duplicating efforts.

If I get a chance, I will try to locate the LDS office on Saturday to see if I can get the marriage cert and then if that is the lady and dude, then maybe it will have her parents name and dates on it. One can always hope. But so far, I have tons more information about this family than I did a few days ago with the major help from you and others.
I cant thank you enough.

I am sorry if this is a taboo and not thought of. I did not realize that the boards were connected. I have been nothing but appreciative of all the effort everybody has given me.

It's not taboo but it is kinda like having two girlfriends and keeping it a secret from each other. If you are getting information from another source, you should let other people know so they are not spinning their wheels. It's not like anyone is getting paid to do these stuff. We all look at the same message boards.

I found Abraham Gotfred in Listaboka, the Bygdabok.
He had a brother named Gabriel Andreas b. 1859 (died when little). His father was Tønnes Andreas Gabrielsen born at a neighboring farm called Midhassel (1830-1878). Tønnes was married in 1856 to Sofie Evergine Abrahamsdtr (1819-1875).
She was from Kåde, another farm ear Nedre Nordhassel. Abraham Gotfred Tønnessen was very young when his parents died. He inherited the farm at Nedre Nordhassel and sold it in 1883 to Jakob Andreas Jakobsen.
If you're still interested in finding out more about Abraham Gotfred Tønnessen's parents, I'll look it up for you.

By the way, do you live in Denver? I do.
