I am looking for the origination of Peter Thompson. I believe he lived in Cherry Grove Township, Goodhue County, MN in 1875 to1880. He moved to Sundal, Mn and married a lady named Gertie. They lived in Mcleod, Ransom County, ND in 1900 to 1920. Several children, Albert, Theodore, Mary etc. Any information appreciated.

You'll really need to do your homework into the US side of this family history before you can hope to link him to a specific place, time and family in Norway. Hopefully this small article about the type of information you want to have will help. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wgnorway/good-queries.htm |

Thanks for the reply. I have found a little more information on his wife Gertie circa 1930. Perhaps that will open a door for me. |

Hi, The 1880 census of Cherry Grive T/S, Goodhue Co, MN, has two listings for Peter Thompson. 1) Peter Thompson age 34 (b) Norway Betsy Thompson age 40 (b) Norway
2) Peter Thompson age 29 (b) Norway Mary A. age 30 (b) Norway Annie age 1 (b) MN
This may be of some help. Steve |

Thomson age 66, occupation Farmer Gerti Thompson age 46, occupation Waitress Theodore age 27 Peter P. age 23 Albert age 19 Annie age 13 Ida age 10 Mary age 6 Because of the age variation the previous posting may not be the person you are looking for. Lands, thanks for the reply. The Ransom County census of 1920 is the correct family. I have traced Gertie to Finley, ND, as head of household, managing a hotel in 1930. Apparently Peter has passed away in the 1920 to 1930 period. I am trying to find further later information on Gertie.
