Would like background info re Lars Knutson (Knudsen), born Stavanger 1831. Wife Siri Marie born 27 Apr 1836 Stavanger. Son Johan born 13 Jan 1870. Emigrated about 1874 to Fillmore County, Minnesota. I realize Lars' name in Norway may have differed from the name I know. Four more children born in America, one of them Olava Sophia my grandmother, generally called Sophia.

I found new info of interest by perusing passenger lists of ships departing Stavanger bound for New YOrk or Quebec in 1874 or 1873. Had been told that Knutsons's son John was 4 yrs old at time of emigration. Found on pasenger list of bark Hebe the names of Lars K. Ladsten (b. Finnoy), his wife Siri Sofie Johannesdtr, and their son Johannes, age 3. Bingo!
Additional family background data welcome, but not essential.

This is probably Lars Click Here working on the Ladsten farm in the 1865 census. Unfortunately It doesn't show his parents.

And this is a good possibility for Siri in the 1865 censu. Click Here. It appears that her father is dead and her mother, Serine Jakobsd, has remarried.

You could add their sons christening record as well, proving the correct birthdate...

Sorry, I goofed, trying to respond to Jan Peter separately from this venue.
Thanks for additional info re Johannes. I note that in LDS baptism record his mother is named Live, while in all other records I've seen she is Siri. Probably not significant; I'll record her as Siri Sofie.
