Thank you for you quick response to my question. It was much appreciated. I have another question which I'm not sure you deal with. I'm new to this forum so if this is the wrong place to ask please let me know.
According to my grandfathers obituary he was from odalen Norway. I've done some research and know that Odalen is in Hedmark. I've also gone to web meta web site but there is no census for 1875 in Odalen. Is there some other source I can get a census from that area in that time period? sweetbarb1

The 1875 census is not completely available online. You can rent the microfilms for Nordre & Sordre Ordalen at a local Family History Center:

Thank you Jo Anne. I just looked that up and found immegration records. I wish I could use them. I'm going to have to study more of their handwriting to find a name in records. Thanks again Barb
