I am trying to find these people who emigrated to USA probably in 1867 or 1868 but that is uncertain.. They are: Karoline Tollefsdtr Bangen b. 1842 and Ole Simonsen (Viken) or Bangen. Children: Simon Martin 4,5 and Anna Marie 1,5 years. I am sure I have had found these people earlier, they emigrated from Hadsel in Nordland, but I am not capable to verify this. At the census of 1865 they lived at Bangen in Bardu, Troms. I hope someone who is better in searching than me - can verify this.
Hopefully from Bodil Haugli. haugli@bluezone.no

You'll find the family 1870 in Otter Tail County, Minnesota using family name of Bangen and still with only the two children Simen and Ana.
In 1880 they live in Polk County, Minnesota and have 4 additional children, Mary, Tolof, a name I can't read and baby Ole C. All using family name Bangen.
1900 they are still in Polk County, Minnesota. Ole S. Bangen lists his birth as Jan 1840 in Norway, Caroline as Jul 1842 in Norway and they list that they immigrated to the US in 1867. Caroline additionally lists that she has had 11 children and that 9 of those children are still alive in 1900.

At least three different people have posted family tree information about Ole Bangen's family to the RootsWeb WorldConnect project -

Thank you so very much. I appreciate this very much. I know I earlier found this family on one of the ships passengers lists, but now I am not able to do that. Very strange. Is it any other way to seach all the passengers lists at one time - a common list over all passengers to all times.? Hope someone knows if it is possible. Some of this family later emigrated to Bella Coola in Canada, and we have lots of photographs taken by the son - Simon Martin - from 1896-99. I very much hope that it is possible to find out on which ship they emigrated.
Happy New Year from

No, the various emigration related databases of the Digitalarkivet website cannot be searched except one at a time.

So DEDUCE which is most likely -- not all the databases extend as early as years 1867 or 1868. That narrows the field right away.
You say they emigrated from Hadsel - closest large northern port would have been Trondheim and it has records as early as 1867.
I looked for 'etternamn børjar på Sim' - in a simple flash there's the family you described -

If you look at the Index of Departures on this site, you will note that the ships, at that time, went to Quebec. Since you know the exact date they registered to leave, I recommend you rent the Canadian passenger lists on microfilm at a local Family History Center, film #889442.

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titlefilmnotes&columns=*%2C0%2C0&titleno=67844&disp=Passenger+lists%2C+1865-1900%3B+index++

You can also rent the indexes but who knows what name(s) were used on the list.
