I have noticed that the passenger list for 1871 from Oslo has not been transcribed from the ship 'EDDA'
Does anyone know why, or hasn't anyone gotten to it yet?

The reason I am asking is because I seem to have a page off that list. It has my great grandfather and great, great grandfather. I believe it has some other relatives, but don't know for sure.

Do you think it is on microfilm at a LDS church and I could order a copy?

Thanks to everyone who could shed some light on this subject.

Leah

The LDS Family History Library collection does have microfilm of the passenger lists of arrivals in Quebec for the year 1871. The online catalog appears to list the appropriate microfilm as #0889446. (Double check that number is correct before you order the film - my eyes can sometimes fail me.)

The reason the list has not been transcribed as all the information on this site is done by volunteers and when people don't volunteer, the lists don't get done.

When you get the passenger list, maybe you would like to transcribe it and add it to the database. It is not hard to do.

There is a Canadian site that has the lists online, since you know the exact ship, etc., it will be easy to find.

Jo Anne:

I wouldn't mind transcribing it, depending on how long it would be and how legibile it is. I would just need to get in touch with someone and have to know who to send it to so they will post it.

I will look into it, thanks.

HOPKINS,

OKAY, now you have peaked my curiosity, could you also please tell me what the film # would be for the 1870 passenger list for the ship EDDA as that one is not transcribed either. Since I don't have to work for the next few days, and hubby will be out of town, I will be able to go to the LDS church and try to look these up. If anything I can make copies and then bring them home to transcribe at my leisure.

As always, thank you all in advance for your gracious help.

Go to the LDS library catalog online - choose to search by film/fiche number and enter the number I gave you for the other film. That will put you on the exact page with the listings of other films for that time period and area.

You'll have to order the films then wait for them to be sent from Salt Lake City to your local Family History Center. Unless of course, you live in Salt Lake City or someone else has already ordered those exact films to be sent to your area.
