I'm searching for a Hans Klevgard (or Dolsveen) born 1836 who came to US from Norway around 1867. Also Andreas and Helene Dolsveen born 1822 and 1820 respectively and immigrated around 1869. Finally, Nels and Thea Wik (b: 1806 and 1833) and immigrated around 1871 with children Mary, Andreas, and Olina. Thanks for any help. |

I did locate a Hans O. Klevgaard and Andrine Klevgaard, living in Chimney Rock, Trempealeau, Wisconsin at the time of the 1910 US Federal Census. At that time, they had sons named Oscar and Almer. I've also found a 2 Feb. 1905 Wisconsin death record for Helene A Dolsveen. These records were found at Ancestry.com.

The 1920 US Federal Census does list an "Andrew" Wik at Chimney Rock, Trempealeau, Wisconsin, birth date of 1863, arrival date of 1871. At that time, he was a widower with six children: Ida, Allie, Anton, Julia, Selma and Norman. Might he be the "Andreas" you're looking for? |

Klevgard hint - Try searching for Hans Olson/Olsen/Oleson (some connection to a "Klevgaard" farm?) born Norway November 1835, immigrated 1868. Sources: 1900 US census, Chimney Rock, Trempealeau Co., Wisonsin and 1880 US census, Burnside, Trempealeau Co., Wisconsin.
Matthew - your information about Trempealeau Co. Wisconsin was very helpful. |

Hi, I'm not clairvoyant, but I've reasons to believe that your Hans Klevgard are from Sør-Aurdal in Oppland county... But I'm not sure why...!
Could it be this guy? Hans Olsen Christening: 06 DEC 1835, Sør Aurdal, Oppland Parents: Ole Olsen & Siri Hansdr
....or Hans Olsen Christening: 22 MAR 1835, Sør Aurdal, Oppland Parents: Ole Olsen & Olea Hansdr
I have not found any connection for these families to the Klevgaard farms in the area...

Thank you all - you've been really helpful!
The 1880 Burnside, Trempealeau Co, WI census is of my ancestors - they are living right next to each other too.
However, I was under the assumption and Andreas and Hellene were Hans' parents (I have a 1905 Wi census that shows Hans O. and Andrine Klevgard listing a Andres Dolsven as "father") but if his patronymic is Oleson, is is likely that his father is the Ole Olsen living at Dolsveen Sondre in 1865?
It looks like, from the immigration record from 1869 that Hans came to US with Andreas and Hellene family. Does anyone know how I might find out their relationship?
Thanks so much for help, Greta

Seems simple - the 1905 Wis census lists Andres Dolsven as father to either Hans or Andrine. The 1865 Norwegian census shows Andreas to be father of Andrine as previous link showed.
Look for their Wis marriage record or application for marriage license. That record may list at least the fathers names for both the bride and the groom. |
