I am looking for information on Nikoline Christiansen. She was born May 15, 1841 in Hordalen parish, Norway and moved to America in 1869 and married Julius Johnson. |

How? No year of birth, no place of birth, not even an inkling where he lived. How? |

You can read the following from the scanned churchbooks for Hurdalen:
Nicoline was born May 22 1841 at Garsjøeie in Hurdal, Akershus. Her mother was Anniken Larsdatter (not married) who said the father was Christian Nielsen, Skramstadeie. Nicoline was baptized July 4 1841. Godparents were Ole Jensen, Johan Larsen, Jens Hansen, Berthe Hansdatter and Inga Olsdatter, all from Garsjø.
Anniken was born Nov 7 1815 at Garsjøeie in Hurdal, Akershus and baptized Nov 19 1815. Godparents were Maria Olsdatter, Dorthe Jensdatter, Lars Pedersen (father), Einar Jensen and Johan Jensen, all from Garsjø. Her parents were Lars Pedersen and Gunild Hansdatter. Lars and Gunild were married March 21 1802 in Hurdal, Akershus. |

So you knew that they lived in Clay county, Dakota in 1880.
And you knew that Julius was at the same age as Nikoline. And that he was born in Norway.
And that they had children named Jørgen (10), Agusta (8), Hannah (6), Matilda (4) and Olaf (2), all born in Dakota.
Then you have probably located them in the 1900-census also? And if so; you probably know his year of immigration?.
Some would call this crucial information to do a search...
