I found my 3rd great grandparents'marriage record in the digital archives at this link:

Antonius Hansen and Anne Elizabeth Hansdatter (#14 at bottom of page) married 21 May 1843 in Bragernaes, Buskerud.
I cannot read the surname for the brides father. I have tried comparing the writing on the page and other pages in the listings, but I still cannot make out what the surname is. I have also found baptism records for their children and seem to see the surname Jensen in most of them, so could that be the surname for the bride's father?
I am also wondering about the vaccination information. I found the record for Antonius' vaccination in his confirmation record ( Flesberg 11 August 1822) but the listing for Anne Elisabeth (if this is indeed her vaccination record) seems to say that she received her vaccination 2 days before the marriage(or is the year 1842)? I also cannot tell what village is listed in that vacination listing.
Can anyone give me some pointers in how to read this record? |

Hi, Antonius Hansen was born in Kongsberg municipality (a silver mine town from the mines was opened 1624 and closed 1957) but live in 1843 in the nearby town Drammen in an area named Bragernes.
Flesberg is a country side municipality north and next to Kongsberg.
I am not sure about the brides father Hans last name but it looks like Iversen. Since Anne Elisabeth Hansdatter was born in Drøbak in Akershus county about 1815-16 she is in the records from Drøbak.

I did search the Drøbak records, but was unable to find Anne Elisabeth. A book that I have with parish register listings said to also check Ås records. I found her in the Ås records at this link http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=7552&idx_id=7552&uid=ny&idx_side=-60
Now I am very confused because it gives the fater's name as Hans Kröger! I suppose if you look at the marriage listing in Bragernaes and infer the spelling, you could get Kröger out of it, but it is difficult to see and I am skeptical as to whether that is the name or not.
So would the Kröger surname be a farm name or would it be an actual surname?
From what I can read in the godparents, there is a Jens Olsen, Lars Larsen, Hans Carlsen, Kristine Carlsdatter, Ingeborg Hansdatter and Maria Samuelsdatter. I assume that many of these are relatives, but I am not sure how to put them together to find more family informaiton.
Am I at least on the right track? |

Yes, Elisabeth Hansen in Drammen in the 1865 census is my ancestor. She emigrated with her daughters Jenny (Katinka) and Emma along with Emma's 6 children. Emma's youngest is my great grandmother Adele (or Edel in the parish records). Emma and children joined their husband/father Gunerius Christiansen in Cheyenne, Wyoming after arriving in America.
I do not have any siblings for Anne Elisabeth yet. It is quite possible that Christian is her brother. The only question I have is that on Anne Elisabeth's baptism record, it appears her mother's name is Kirsti Hansdatter, if I am reading the script correctly.
How can you tell that Anne Elisabeth's father was from Ås? I assumed it was Drøbak because of the use of the name in the listing.

Drøbak town is the right municipality. Drøbak was a part of Ås main parish until about 1840 (I don´t have the exact year) so a look up into Ås can give you Anne Elisabeths possible siblings.
Yes I assume Christian is Elisabeth´s brother, but only the church records can tell.
Krøger is not a common name, there are only about 120 Krøgers living in Norway today.
The 1865 mother-in-law Elen Marie Krøger lived at her parents house, nr 138 in Drøbak age 14 in 1801 with four siblings and both parents: Christopher Krøger age 50 and Johanne Hansdatter age 48. Since Anne Elisabeth's father was listed as Hans Krøger, could he be a sibling of Elen Krøger? I do not see anyone named Hans listed in the 1801 census with the other Krøgers, but could he have been older and already living away from the family? Since it seems that some of the family were sailors, could some people have been at sea when the census was taken?
I did find a confirmation record for Antonius in Bragernaes 26 April 1835 http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8457&idx_id=8457&uid=ny&idx_side=-18 but I have been unable to find his baptism record so far. I am still searching. I am now wondering if his family may have been around Ås or Drøbak before his baptism? Or perhaps in one of the other villages near Konsberg?
I have found Antonius as Anthon in records of all of his children. I have yet to research any of his siblings or parents, but I may start on that route soon.
Do you know of a place online where I might obtain a detailed map of Norway from the late 1800's? Or perhaps even a current map? I am trying to place the different villages so I have a general idea where my ancestors lived in relation to each other. I have one map that is very difficult to read (even when magnified) and I cannot find all of the smaller villages on it. So far I have not been able to find a map that gives me the information I seek on the Internet, but I know there must be some available.
I would also be interested in learning more about Kongsberg, since it appears I have ancestors from that city. I have a lot of interest in learning about the history of the cities where my ancestors originated. I have been able to obtain much information on my German ancestors. It helps that I can read, write and speak some German. I am lost when it comes to reading Norwegian, however. I have had a lot of trouble reading the names and words in some of the parish records for my ancestors and their siblings.
