Can anyone help regarding further details of this man, born at Trondheim 26/01/1775.His son Friedrich Carl Lauritz Ellevsen was born at Rendsborg,Holstein 7/7/1814 and emmigrated to Australia in 1882.We cannot find any details of his death or of other children he may have had.We believe he married a woman Magdelena. Please assist in providing information or other possible links that we can follow.Thank you. Trevor
His son was born in Denmark or in that southern territory so often disputed between Denmark and Germany? Wouldn't that seem to be the area to search for later records regarding the adult life and death of Ole Ellefsen? It seems odd that they are not following the typical Scandinavian patronymic naming system...
We have researched the areas that you have suggested before we posted our enquiry.I would have thought that you would be aware that in proceeding in the manner we have, was because we had exhausted all other lines of enquiry. The only reference to Ole Ellefsen is the Kirchenkreis,Rendsburg -Neuwerk Extract from the Baptism book which gave details of the birth of his son Lauritz Carl Friedrich Ellefsen. Thank you anyway for your response.
The source of the birthdate was a deceased family historian who lived in hamburg.Research by us has indicated a number of possible Ole ellefsens/elefsens/ellevsens born in Trondheim in 1775.The records do not indicate a son named Lauritz however. We will keep delving...thankyou.
My name is Julie-Anne Ellevsen (Australia) and if the information on my family tree is correct then Ole Ellevsen (1775) is my Great Great Great Great Great Grandfather. I have him down as having a son called Lauritz (with other names Friedrich and Carl although the names may not be in the correct order). There are a number of other children and Ole's wife's name is Magdalena Piening. My Ellevsens came to Australia in 1882 and settled in Queensland. I believe the name of the ship was the Compta (I would have to double check). Please contact me if you would like further information. I have a lot of Ellevsen information on Genes Reunited.
