I believe I found Isak Andersen's father, Anders Thorsen, in the 1801 census.
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=1&filnamn=f10901&gardpostnr=298&personpostnr=2856&merk=2856#ovre

Could someone please look at this and tell me if it looks like he also married an older widow? If so, he must have married someone else after her death, because Isak Andersen wasn't born until 1811 and she's already 55 years old in the 1801 census. Going by the name of the children listed under Hedevig Jørgensdtr, their father should of been named Daniel, right? If my translating is correct, I think it says that it's the second marriage for both.

Thanks! Wanda

Yes he did, and he was a widower himself when they married - which must have been before 1790 since their son Daniel is 11 years. It is also reasonable to think that Anders married the third time since Isak was born 1811-12.

Hedevigs first husband was definitely a Daniel - her sons are proofs of that - the recorded Daniel Andersen was clearly also the first son (and only child?) of Anders and Hedevig then - yes.

Isaks grandmother is more certain since she is listed in the census - Anna Svendsdatter.

Thanks Einar.

I found the birth record for Anders Thorsen on the LDS site and Anna Svendsdatter is his mother.

I'm going to have to look for Anders Thorsen's third marriage to find Isak's mother, I guess.

Thanks, Wanda

I believe I found Anders Thorsen's third marriage and it even gives me his death date. They have 4 records of the marriage listed, but they are all for the same marriage.

Take care, Wanda

Can you tell about the search data you used for the two last findings - I have not been able to find anything.

Hi Einar,

After finding the 1801 census, I wondered if Anna Svendsdatter was his mother, so did a search on LDS for Anders Thorsen, with a birthdate around 1764, also based on the census.
The first one shows Anders Toresen, christened August 5, 1764, with parents listed as being Tore Arnesen and Anne Svendsdr.

Now I see why you're questioning it. The birth dates don't match up for Anders Thorsen, so that's not the correct marriage record. Back to searching, I guess.
Thanks for pointing that out.

Wanda

I do believe that this is Anders Thorsen's son with his second wife, Hedevig Jørgensdatter. Once again, they only list the father, but by linking that to the 1801 census, we know that Hedevig was the mother.
