Hi:

Members of this site have been very helpful to me and I appreciate it very much.

My Grandfather, Thorvald Amundson was born on January 13, 1871 in Fåberg (Gausdal). At the age of 20 he came to America. I found his record 116095 in "Emigranter over Kristiania 1871 - 1930".

It says that the Line was "Krantz(N.)" and the ship "Angelo". Did this ship only take him to either Hull or Liverpool? I can't find anything on this ship or line.

I would like to find the actual passenger list to see what data it has.

Again, thanks for your help.

On Friday morning the 2nd of October, 1891, the ship S/S Angelo travelled Christiania - Christiansand - Hull .

List of possible corresponding ships to cross the atlantic can be found here.

Couldn't make the link work, but it said he was going to Quebec.

Hi:

Thanks for the link and information. I did search and I think I found him. However, the penmanship is hard to read.

I think I found him on the SS Toronto which left Liverpool on October 9, 1891. Record 4472 on the bottom of the first page. That is the only one that comes close. There was one ship leaving Liverpool on the 3rd of October but since we have him leaving Oslo on October 2nd, that wouldn't be possible.

The SS Toronto was in the Dominion Line and their agent was Krantz, the same as the SS Angelo, which he came from Oslo.

The age for the person on the SS Toronto is 20 and that is the age he was.

Are there records in Hull or Liverpool where I could see somemore evidence that this is Thorvald Amundson?

Thanks again.

Arden,

Did you notice this person was going to Minneapolis? This could be a good clue for making him your Thorvald.

Articles on this website, and recommended for your reading, address that question.
This might one article to start with - http://www.norwayheritage.com/british-board-of-trade-outbound-passenger-lists.htm

Yes, I was able to find him on the Liverpool Departures on SS Toronto on October 9, 1891.

Thanks so much for the help. The handwriting is perfect and readable.

Thanks again for your help.
