I just recently saw this post and it immediately stirred my interest. Christian Hanson from Oretap, Rødenes, was my the brother of two of my great grandfathers - Johan Hansen Oretap (who accompanied Christian to the USA and later went back home to marry my great grandmother, Randine, the other brother Oliver (Ole Iver) married my other great grandmother Andrine. My grandmother and grandfather on my mother's side are cousins. Ole Iver's sons (Olaus, Markus, Julius, Carl) and one daughter Elise emigrated to the United States. They adapted Iversen/Oliversen into Taagetorp, in the USA, Thorp/Thorpe. I have a lot of information about this family (also some about Christian) and also Christian and Oliver's brother, Andreas Hanson, who also settled in Minneapolis, from America letters I have inherited. Contact me if you are interested. Olaus' only daughter Ella Thorp/Ella Thorpe, became a professor in mathematics at Augsburg's College and I also possess her will (from the 1960s) with names provided of her American and Norwegian relatives.

Hallo emhuseby, I do have a feeling that I maybe should write this in norwegian??
I was very pleased to read your message , Anette Beata was the first child of my great grandfather Andreas Amundsen from Rødenes. He left Rødenes shortly after his wife Inger Aslaksdatter died and in 1865 he was in Røyken working, later he came to Lier where he got married to Petronelle Andreasdatter from Asker. I do have contact with some of Anettes family in USA and I am sure they all will be intersted in your information, just like I am.

I am the great granddaughter of Christian and Annette Hanson who came to Minneapolis in 1873. Their son (my grandfather) Lawrence Adolph Hanson was born there in 1896. My father (Lawrence Adolph Hanson, Jr.) assembled a large amount of information on the family that I am now beginning to organize on ancestry.com and that I'd be happy to share - photos and genealogies, etc. ... I am in touch with some of my American cousins - descendants of Christian and Annette, but also our family stayed in touch with the descendants of Johan and Randine Oretap who now live in Tonsberg, Norway. I met Ella Thorp as a little girl. I live in Santa Monica (near Los Angeles) California.

Is there a map of the Rodenes area that shows where the families related to Christian and Annette lived?

I'd like to contact Emhusey but I'm not able to email him because I just joined the forum. I am a descendent of Oliver Taagetorp and I'm interested in information about the family.

Emhusey mentioned he had information and a will with genealogy from Ella Thorp/Thorpe. My father is still living, and he remembers Ella Thorp. My great-grandfather is Julius Thorpe. Thanks!
