According to the census he should have been born approx 1779, 1801.

Thank you eibache and jwiborg. I do have that census record. I also had most of the information from the tree, jwiorg, but I had missed one of the Torbjorn son's born 1779 so that was nice to see. Very nice software program tree! I would really like to know what the actual parish record shows, since there is the decrepency of the birthday/baptism date of 1772 that shows on the tree you linked and the 1779 age from the 1801 census. I have tried viewing the parish record from 1771 through 1779 but, as I said before, I am really having a hard time reading it to find which is the correct date.

I appreciate your info and the quick response.

Just noticed from the tree that Valgerd#1 born in 1779 and Torbjorn#2 born in 1779, then if Torres was born in 1779 from the census--that would be a pretty good accomplishment for mamma Kari :)
I'm thinking it's more likely now that Torres may have been 1772. I had a handwritten note by Torres's name of Feb 11/12 1779 as something to check on. Still stumped. I wish I could decipher the handwriting. from the parish book record. It's way too squished together and too many flourishes in his handwriting for me to figure out.

Brother Torbiørn baptized Nov 19 1774, 4th record in 2nd column.
Sister Valgier baptized Dec 30 1779, 4th record from bottom of right page.

i.e. 1801 census not reliable.

In column 1, left page 1775 you will find an interesting (but hard to read) info about a child whose name was Tørris, mother seems to be Alis Achildsdatter and father reported to be Tørris Tørrisen, Scharveland - brother of John Tørrisen?

I would love to be able to read the story that you mention-1775. Your talents are far better than mine. It would probably take me a year to translate it---even if I could read the handwriting style. would you like to translate a summary to give me the idea of the story?
