I am looking for Ole Knudsen born Frysdal, Telemark 1804 emigrated to America in 1870 by way of Quebec. He was married to Birgit Jorgansdatter born Fyresdal about 1802 and died Telemark unknown because she did not go to America with Ole who went with his daughter Torbjor and her husband Halvor Toreson all of Fyresdal. Any information on Ole and birgit's parents and siblings. Thank you, Renee Sanders, OREGON, USA |

Where is Tromo Sogn? I don't find it. The Moland parish records only go back to 1815 I need at least 1802. Thank you, Renee |

Moland was a parish in Fyresdal - check Fyresdal records for those earlier years. Tromø is probably Tromøydistrict in Aust-Agder - I'd imagine it would be the closest of the possibilities.

Perhaps Tromsø was a wrong spelling, also the 1865 Norwegian census has Tromsø as his birth place, but
I was also thinking of Tromøy, because #8 Ole Knudsen age 32 was coming from Bygland in Setesdal in Aust Agder in 1836, and it seems he was coming with a friend #7 Hans Torbjørnsen age 25 from Tromøy sogn http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8014&idx_id=8014&uid=ny&idx_side=-237
Its more than1 hour passed midnight in Norway, time to take a rest.

Look again at the 1802 birth/baptism records for Fyresdal - there IS a girl with name like Birgit but I believe the spelling is just a little different. I only noticed ONE name like that. |

I saw that too but I couldn't make out anything like Jorgensdatter or the parents names. Renee |

Birgit was born in Oct 1 1802, baptized at home and confirmed in church Oct 17 - but her name was Bergitte - her father was Jørgen Aadnesen and her mother was Torbjør Ormsdatter. Jørgen was according to the 1801 census born in 1776 and Torbjør in 1773. Thorbiør was born Febr 21 and baptized Febr 28, see the fourth on in 1773 http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8009&idx_id=8009&uid=ny&idx_side=-4 her father was Orm Eigilson and the mother was Birgith Ketilsdotter. You will find Jørgen as the 7th from the top on the right side here http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8009&idx_id=8009&uid=ny&idx_side=-14 He was born March 9 1776, baptized March 20 and his father was Aadne Jørgensen and the mother Todne Olsdatter. Look!! one of the most interesting and beautiful marriage records I have seen - http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8009&idx_id=8009&uid=ny&idx_side=-59 - right side second from the bottom of the page 25 Februarii i Molands Præstegaard Tro-lowede den unge og ledige Personen Aadne Jørgenson Midgaarden og Thodne Oles Dott. Lillestue. Co****rede derefter d. 30 Junij af Hans Mi. Abel. (**** should be pul and then an e) Cautionister vare Aadne Oleson Winsnæs Knud Saaveson Berge |

The area has two? bygdeboker series available - "Fyresdal : Gards- og ættesoge" 3 volumes by Steinar Marvik; "Fyresdal" by Bendik Taraldlien.
Both are available by Inter-Library loan (through your local public library).

Thank you for all of this. I found her death last night and the names of her father and mother with the help of Hopkins but I couldn't find all of the other info. Thank you so much. I have been trying to find her husband Ole Knudsen born 1804, I think Tromoy? Aust-Agder but he is more difficult. Thank you again, Renee |
