I need to know how I could find someone related to the Halvor Thorsen line that goes back to Svalestova, Torer 1300 in Fryesdal.
Halvor was born Moland 1821 his father was Tore Salvesen all born Fryesdal.
Family in America would like to travel to Fryesdal and meet with them.
Thank you,
Renee Sanders, USA

You probably have the birth record for Halvor - in case you don't, see #98
it reads Halvor Thoresen - his father Thore Saawesen and his mother Askier Bendiksdatter, they lived at Svalestue, acually the northern Svalestue in Moland, Fyresdal in Telemark County.
Thore had one brother Halvor, 14 year younger, and three sister Asbiør 3 years younger, Bergit 9 years younger and Eldre 12 years younger.
I am sure somebody else wil provide you with maps - when it comes to living family members that may be more difficult.
You could of course use the online phonebook
and search for Svalestuen!

Hmmm... this will be a challenge..., but nothing is impossible...

Tore Saavesen (b ca 1778) & Asjer Bendiksdr (b ca 1786) lives on the Snippen farm in Moland in census-1866.

Children (from LDS):
Saave Thoresen, born 20 May 1805, Fyrisdal, Telemark
Saave Thoresen, born 19 Aug 1806, Fyrisdal, Telemark
Bendix Thoresen, born 14 Jan 1810, Fyrisdal, Telemark
Tow Thoresen, born 11 Sep 1813, Fyrisdal, Telemark
Halvor Thoresen, born 17 Jun 1821, Fyrisdal, Telemark

This looks like their son Saave born born 19 Aug 1806.

1886 farmregister:
County: Telemark
Municipality: Fyresdal
Local parish: Moland
Land number : 39
Title number : 3
Farmname: Sitje
Owner: Saave Toresen

Owner of Sitje nordre (39/3) in 1900 is Saave Toresen & Torbjør Sigursdr's son Gunleik Solveson, born 1834.

Owner of Sitje nordre (39/3) in 1950 is Såvi Gunleiksen, according to the 1950 farmregister. Probably the same as Solve Gunleikson, born 1889.

Here is the current owner of the Sitje farm, but that could be the main farm (39/1)

There it stops, at least so far...

Svalestova, Svalestuen nordre..., today's name is Svalestog nordre, and it's the farm next to Sitje. Postal address: 3870 Fyresdal. 135 km (02:15 hrs) north of Arendal, Aust Agder.
