I am looking for Thomas Quistad born Norway 1882. I don't know if Quistad is his name in Norway or the farm he came from I have no other info. he went to the USA and died in 1962 in California. He married Alvina Josaphine Halvorsen from Minnesota, USA.
Thank you,
Renee, USA

His family name must come from a farm.
Qvistad (or Kvistad) is found in Hjørundfjord, Møre og Romsdal and Inderøen, Nord-Trøndelag.
Only one Thomas has been found born in 1881 at Sakshaug, Inderøen, but he does not come from the farm Kvistad.
More info is needed - names - dates - etc.

Good Morning,
I do not have anything else on him. I only know he was born in Norway 1881 or 1882 his last name Quistad does not have the usual Sen or Datter so I thought maybe Quistad was his farm. He went to America probably after 1900 and married one of my Halvorsens. I have no other info on him. The Thomas you mentioned could that be him?
Thank you,
Renee

The Thomas that Jan Peter found is probably the correct one. The 1920 census lists
Surname GivenName Age Sex Race Birthplace State County Location

QUISTAD THOMAS 38 M W NORW MT JEFFERSON 2-WD; WHITEHALL; SCHOOL DIST 4
Year of immigration is listed as 1903.
His California death record lists his birthdate as Feb 7 1882.

Interesting!
Thomas father Arne Gullliksen was in 1865 a servant at the Kvistad farm, he was born in Ørsta in Volda, see #13
The farmer at Kvistad in 1865 was Truels Arnesen, Karolines father, and she was not yet married.
Karoline was actually christened Anne Caroline, see #35 and her mother was Oline Birgithe Olsdatter.

Thomas grandparents Gullik Arnesen and Ragnild Knudsdatter married in 1838 see #10
Gulliks father was Arne Pedersen at the Moe farm in Ørstad and Ragnilds father was Knud Halvarsen at the Hustad farm in Hjørundfjord and her mother was Brit Pedersdatter.
