I am searching for further information for Margrethe Torkildatter. She married Even Olsen 03 Jul 1823 in Ĝstre Toten. He was born in 1798 to Ole Evensen and Kari Pedersdatter. Ole and Kari had a daghter, Marte born in 1800. I know of one daughter that Evan ad Margrethe had, Emilie Theoline Evansdatter, b. 25 Mar 1840. I would like to follow the genealogy of Emilie further and learn more about the family. I have looked at the Norway DA, Ancestry.com, Family Search, and websearch for these clues. Thanks so much!

Thanks so much! I did not find this record when I was searching. Did they live on the farm named Kobberstad?

It would be worth while to note that Margretes mother was (Moderen) Kari Jacobsdatter.
Karis parents lived at Raanebye farm, see her father here
Please also note that Margretes father is most likely Torkild Olsen, not Larsen, see the wedding record Nov 25 1802 on the right side here Torkilds father was a widower in 1801 see here
I don't know if you have Emilie Theolines christening record, but here it is #25
and here is her confirmation record #12

1801 census show Torkild Olsen Kaaberstad, age 21, I can´t find any Torkild Larsen in 1801 census living in Toten, neihter any Torkild Larsen married between 1801-1804, but Torkil Olsen married Kari Jacobsdatter Raanebye Nov. 25. 1802, 2. from top Brudevielser .

I wonder if it was a wrong spelling in the church book, a mix-up between Torkild Olsens grandfather "Fĝderaadsmand" and widower Lars Torkildsen age 91 and his son Ole Larsen. Click here

Kaaberstad/Kobberstad was 1. time mentioned 1376 as Kofrestodum and is coming of the Norse mans name Kofri according professor Ola Rygh, stad means place(recidence) Ola Rygh

Raaneby mentioned 1345 is coming of mans name Rani-Hrani Click here

Ole Larsen Kobberstad married Margrethe Pedersdatter Balche (dead before 1801) Jan. 8. 1778, 2. chapter couple #3

Harder and harder to find more records,Ole´s father Lars Torkildsen was born about 1710, the letteres are clear and bright, but close.
Look ups in a "Bygdebook" from Toten would likely bring up more information going further back.

Six persons in USA as Norway Lister Lookups for Toten Bygdebok, enter Oppland Here

A curiosity:
Engagement in Hoff church April 7. 1779. Ole Larsen Kobberstad was best man when Ole Knudsen Kobberstad was engaget to Mari Pedersdr. Burud. They married Mai 7.

Ole Larsen and Madame Margrethe Pedersdatter had their first child Marthe in 1778, christened Dec. 6. See #7 from the top.
Looking at the marriage record it is worth while to notice that Margrethes brother Poul Pedersen Balche was married on the same day!
Margrethe was christened Dom. 7th Post Trin - ie July 16 1841, see #5 from the top on right hand side. Her parents were Peder Fossen and Ragnild Hogensdatter.

"Fĝderaadsmand" and 91 years old Lars Torkildsen in 1801 census was christened Oct. 19. 1710 in Hoff church. His fathers last name was likely the name of the farm, hard to understand.
Dĝbt Torkil ?aborg? S (Son) Lars.
Godparents: Gulbrand fra (from) ?? and Birthe Lund.

1. column # 4 dĝbt

If you enter this familytree,1. section "kort resyme" and click on OPPLAND Ĝstre Toten FRA 1864 you will find Kobberstad nr 12 marked red in the map.

We are happy for you Pam.
To get any further back look ups in a "Bygdebook" from Toten is nessesary.
In addition to the church books and the census´s, information from probate registers, miltary protocolls, hospitales etc. etc. are available in the archives (only few are online yet) and give these books increased information and knowledge.
