Tami -
I've always found the online LDS library catalog Place Search to be very useful for learning about parish/district locations in Norway. If you go to the catalog Place Search option and type in only Slidre it returns four possible options: Norway, Oppland, Slidre; Vestre Slidre; and two spellings for Østre Slidre/Øystre Slidre. The Church Records topic listed for each of those areas will also describe the years of parish records available, any missing time periods and other areas names that records were kept under. The topics Genealogy or History will also usually list the title, author and publication details of any existing bygdebøker for the area, including whether or not they have that publication copied to microfilm and/or microfiche that can be borrowed.
The catalog will not always give that information if it cannot recognize the spelling of the area.

Vestre and Østre/Øystre Slidre are two different places.....

Øystre Slidre is a municipality in the county of Oppland, Norway.

The old municipality of Slidre was divided into Øystre Slidre and Vestre Slidre in 1849.

The majority of residents live at Heggenes, Rogne, Skammestein, Beito and at Beitostølen.

Vestre Slidre is a municipality in the county of Oppland, Norway.

The old municipality of Slidre was divided into Vestre Slidre and Øystre Slidre in 1849.
