Hello Jostein:

The pictures you have requested were sent today to your e-mail address. In the future I may have some others but not of the "gold diggers".
Any additional information you may have on them I will surely welcome it.

Thanks for your patience.

Hi, my name is Alexandre Gravem, I am from the Rio Grande do Sul state in Brazil, it makes border with Santa Catarina. I was thinking that the immigrant that gave the Gravem name to my family could be in the Sophie ship and among the norwegians in D. Francisca Colony, but didn't find any Gravem in the norwegians =/

It's possible that the immigrant was in the Sophie, but instead of go to D. Francisca he went directly to Rio Grande do Sul?

TO ALEXANDRE GRAVEM:
You are right to say that the name GRAVEM does not appear in the list of 61 Norwegians that went down from RIO DE JANEIRO to Colonia Dona Francisca, arriving in SAO FRANCISCO DO SUL, Santa Catarina on 26/March/1851.
However, write an e-mail to jostein.molde@hf.ntnu.no who might be able to help you as he has the names of other passengers of SOPHIE.
It will help him if you give more information such as GRAVEM's birthplace (town or farm); date of birth; name of father and mother; siblings; etc..
Also, if you want to exchage information with me, drop me a e-mail to: gorresenpp@uol.com.br, in English or Portuguese.
I would very much want to know about other Norwegians who may have gone to Rio Grande do Sul.
Sincerely,
Paulo Görresen
