Hello all
Looking to find any information about my great grandfather Peter Jentoft Harwick. I know his birthday is April 28 1882 born in Narvik, Norway. I believe he came to the US around 1900-1907. In the US lived in New York City. I sent away to NYC for his marriage cert. and death cert. to see if it has any other info that would help me locate his norway origins. I found his birth date and place of birth from a world war II draft registration card. |

1920 US federal census for New York, Kings Co., Brooklyn -30th ward of city, 9th assembly district --US National Archives Microfilm Series: T625 Roll: 1157 Page: 93
Peter Harwick lists age as 37, immigration year listed as 1899. Wife also Norwegian born.
1910 US federal census for New York, Kings Co., Brooklyn - US National Archives Microfilm Series: T624 Roll: 956 Page: 300
Peter "Haarbik" lists age as 28, immigration year as 1902 and has started filings to become US citizen.
Citizenship usually required 5 years minimum to complete and citizenships completed AFTER 1906 have HUGE amounts of information about each person. Go after those immigration papers!!! |

New information sent to me by my Uncle in New York. It is a chart put together for my Great Aunt Evelyn Kaspersen. It lists Petter Jentoft Harwicks parents as Johan Ludvig Olai Pedersen 4/2 1848 pa Hol i Tjsund, dpt 20/4 1848 and Gunhild Rebekka Olsdtr 5/8 1859 i Harvik dpt 23/10 1859.
I am going to look at these people.

The parents and grandparents in 1865, here is Johan Ludvig
and here is Gunhild
Peters baptismal record is #19
he was baptized July 24.
His parents were married Sept 26 1881, see #6

Johan Ludvigs baptismal record is #4
his mother was Ingeborg Sofia Hansdatter.
Johan Ludvigs parents married Nov 6 1843, see #13
Peder Jentoft Olsen born June 22 and baptized July 29 1810, see bottom of left page here
his parents were Ole Loudvigsen and Benedicta Pedersdatter.
Gunild Rebekke was born Aug 5 1859, see
#109
her parents were Ole Hansen and Elen Kirstine Johansdatter Haarvig.
Elen Kirstine Johansdatter died July 13 1863, see #44
