Last time I was here, all of you were a huge help. I have since verified all the info that I gained!!!

Now however I could use some help in the translation of the 1727 christening record of Solla Christophersdtr. Mormon church records (family search) has her father listed as Christopher Guttormsen no mother listed. If I have the right Christopher, he would have been like 12 years old when he had Solla....it doesn't make sense unless the dates are off or he was indeed really that young??? I am hoping that the record will help to guide me in the right direction.

Solla is the bottom entry on the left hand side her christening date is 4-20-1727.

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=16539&idx_id=16539&uid=ny&idx_side=-24

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dominica Quasimodo geniti: (1. Sunday after Easter)- Dolstad-1727

Dĝbt (Christened) Christopher Guttormsen Myrnesets Pigebarn (Daughter) Solla
Witness: Joen Hallwardsen Miĝvatne, Guttorm Joensen Forsmoen, Dorothe Baardsdatter Forsmoen, Maren Guttormsdatter Andaas, Barbara Christophersdatter Myrneset.

Myrneset, Myr means bog and neset means spit of land.
Miĝvatne, Miĝ means narrow and vatne means lake.
Forsmoen, Fors means waterfall located to the river Drevja and moen means plain (land).
Andaas, And means duck and aas means ridge

Dolstad old church was demolished early 1700 and the new chursh was opened 1733 so Solla´s confirmation was taken place in the new Dolstad church

Here is Christopher Guttormsen, tenant farmer on Myrneset in 1701, age 35

I find this family tree on Christoffer Guttormsen Myrneset married to Marit Siursdatter.

You could ask the owner for futher information, click here, enter G (Personer) and you will find Guttormsen, Christopher 1666-1745 4. from bottom

Likely you already have these records for Vefsn, all in one page

Thank you so much for the translation and the info.

I am fairly new at this and not getting family members wrong is very important to me as I am sure is the case with all researchers. The one thing I am having the most trouble with is finding the proper church records. Even though I have tried some of the online sources for how the old letters should look, I must not have any kind of an "eye" for it. I got really lucky with this one as I knew exactly when Solla was christened and her name really stuck out in the record! You made the translation seem easy! At any rate, I am extremely greatful for you taking the time to help me with this.

Hi,
this record for Solla, espesially the names, was hard to read, it impressed me that you find it. You will likley find the others one by one.
Genelalogy has no hurry, after many years I still have many dark spots in my family tree.
Return to this forum anytime you want some help in reading/finding records, but its very exiting to make lookups for yourself.

Only the christening records has the names emphasized, it makes it "easier". The Christening starts with either Dĝbt or Bap.

Good luck
