I have found a death record for my gg grandparents in the digitalarkivet and there is a date for buried and a date for interment. What is the difference?

Hi dsb,

Having run into similar situations in the funeral registers myself, there is usually a date of death, a date of burial and / or date of the funeral. Sometimes it was not possible to delay a funeral until the pastor was available, burial might be done in advance. In the Norwegian settlements in America, one record I saw was a funeral for a person who had died 6 years previously...Another telltale sign that the pastor was out on circuit is if there are many funerals celebrated on the same day. Also in days gone by, they didn't have butane heaters to thaw out the ground to conduct a burial at the same time as the funeral. There are lots of reasons for different dates.

Thank you for the explanation. That cleared up my confusion.
