Can anyone tell me why in the digital archives under the list of parishes there is listed "Selje", "Selje/Selje" and "Selje/Vågsøy"? What is the difference? I have found family info. under both, but I hate to spend time looking if I know they won't be found there. Thank-you Missy

Take a look at the dates of the different books. The parish boundries moved around over time & when populations were small or there weren't priests available for all of the parishes, parishes sometimes shared a priest & he'd put the rocords for all of the parishes he took care of in the same books, putting a notation of which anex the record was from.

Are you using any of the transcribed indexes to assist your search?
