I need clarification of the way the dates for deaths, births, etc is listed on the Norwegian genealogy records. I have looked at records on the digitalarkivet and the dates are listed as such:
death date: 0902 buried 1602 or emigrated on 0310.
Does the day come first or the month? Is it Sept 2 or Feb. 9 ....

The day comes first! The 1602 should also be a good indication of that.

thank you. I thought I had it figured out with the 1602 sample you used, but all the genealogy I have found on my family done by others have the dates backwards. Guess my records will be the correct ones now.

In your records, if you spell out the month, or the abbreviation, no one will have a problem with the recorded dates - whichever method is used. .
