I am l ooking for information on Hans Halvorsen, who is the father of my dad, Henry Halvorsen Brustad. He had at least three sons, Kjell, Stub and Tom and at least one daughter. He worked in a chocolate factory or shop at one time. My dad was born in March 1897 to Laura Larsen and Hans Halvorsen but they never married. Thank you for any help you can give me.

I guess this would be your dad in census-1900 for Kristiania? click here
Or maybe not? old topic

There are chocolate factories in Oslo, so maybe Hans Halvorsen could be found in the same census?
Do you know when he was born?

As far as I know your dad was born March 28 and christened Alfred Henry Emanuel on May 2 1897, see #59
His father Hans Halvorsen was then a worker on a chocolate factory and he was born in 1875.
In the 1875 census he is living with his parents Olaus and Amalie Halvorsen at Platougade 17, see 72359
Olaus Halvorsen from Ullensager and Inger Johanne Amalie Nilsen were married Aug 10 1873, see #44
Inger Johanne Amalie was born July 31 1847, see #176
her parents were Niels Jacobsen and Gunnild Marie Arnesdatter at Vestre Schøyen.
Inger Johanne Amalie with her parents and siblings in 1865 is here
Niels Jacobsen and Gunild Marie Arnesdatter were married the same day the daughter Jørgine was baptized, see #315
Gunild Maria was an "uægte" child, she was born Aug 23 1820. See #47
Her mother was Kari Svendsdatter Øvre Gjerelsrud and the father was Arne Rasmussen Egeberg.
Arne Rasmussen was baptized in Nov 1796, see left hand page here
His father was Rasmus Johannesen. In 1801 he is at
Egeberg
with his wife and children.
