I have found information about Gustave Olsen, Laura Olsen and Henry Halvorsen in the 1900 Census for Asker. I am wondering if Laura Olsen is my grandmother, Laura Larsen. The birthdates for Laura and Henry are accurate but I never heard that she had married Gustave Olsen. Is there any way I can get a marriage record, death record for Gustave, or any other information regarding their lives together. She came to America in 1917 with my father, Henry, and married Thorvald Brustad in Hamilton, NY. We never knew of any other marriage. This is very confusing and I wondered if there would be anyone who could help me trace Gustave Olsen or find records of their marriage. Many thanks.

Perhaps you are referring to the earlier 1900 Norwegian census that was given you in Feb 2008 that found Gustav Olsen, Laura Olsen and Henry Halvorsen in Oslo/Kristiania (NOT Asker).
That earlier link given is in this earlier topic -
http://www.norwayheritage.com/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3623

In that census enumeration all three of them are listed as born in Kristiania/Oslo so concentrate your research in the parish church records of the various churches in that city.
Good information about translating the formats of Norwegian parish church records during various time periods, many of the basic terms used and understanding how to use the information should be studied at this web site -

My cousin, Tom Vadholm, helped me with that record when he visited us. We couldn't find anything that showed a marriage record. I looked in the Paulus record for Gustave Olsen's birth and found one but don't know if it's him. I would like a marriage record, if possible. Thanks for your help. I never heard of Gustave Olsen before so it's puzzling.

Which of the Oslo/Kristiania congregations and years did you already check?

I can't remember. It was late at night and there were so many. I looked at Paulus and found one Gustave Olsen (middle name was Gustave) and father's name was perhaps Arne Olsen? I thought it was his mother, Anne Olsen but the writing was so bad. I checked 1875 to 2000.

Sorry, I meant to say 1875 to 1900. Oops.

I did find out that Laura and Gustav lived at Sannergata 13 in Kristiania. Is that helpful? She lived at Herslebs Gate 10 in 1917 before departure to America. Thank you for any help you can give me. I'm rather lost ...

I have further information on Laura. She was born August 7, 1876; Christened on October 15, 1876 and confirmed October 4, 1891. Her residences were Bjonum, Vestre Baerum, Akershus. Her parents were Hans Larsen and Eli Halvorsen or Halvorsdatter. They got married on 17 April 1876, indicating that she was pregnant with grandma when they married.

I'm trying to find out more information about Gustave Olsen, who he was, where and when he was born, and if there's a record of his and Laura Larsen's marriage (between 1897 and 1900). I had no idea she was married to anyone but Thorvald Brustad.
