Found a birth record for Karen Petronelle, very hard for me to read. The father looks like Povel Christoffersen. The date looks like 19 Dec 1818. Second page #8

Thank you, Les!
The birth and confirmation records are both difficult to read. What is the date shown on the confirmation record - a vaccination? |

The mothers name was Anne Olsdatter. The birth record has Povel Christophersen and the confirmation record has Povel Andreas Christophersen.
Good luck.

Hi Joy,
What wonderful progress you, Les and Kaare have made today!
Peder is listed as Enkemand at the wedding which would be a fairly extraordinary thing for a man of 22--not impossible... Also there is a difference of birth location between the marriage record and the 1865 census Vinger vs Christiania/Sandefjord. The notation on the marriage concerns Peder and his "attest" from a pastor Sax??? in Christiania dated 1840 or 1846...
But there is a "lodger" with the family in 1865 a woman also with the last name "Lars." aged 24 perhaps a child of the absent father Peder from a first marriage???
Vaccination records are also interesting. One of the reasons Norway had a population boom leading to the need to migrate--more survived small pox than ever before in the 1800s because of the requirement to be vaccinated. Utflyttes (outgoing) from Sandar /Sandefjord to Oslo or even to America should be checked.
Do you know the church the family attended in Omaha? The reason I ask is there is a church officer of the Vor Frelser's Lutheran (Our Savior's) in 1915 named Tom Larsen (church started in 1871.) Your guy or someone else? (Norsk Luthereske Menigheter i America 1843-1916 by O. M. Norlie)
An excellent day's work behind you more ahead of you...

I found Amalie's confirmation record in Trefoldighet #6.
According to the 1865 census, Peder is 53, making an 1812 birthdate. But the marriage record makes Peder's birthdate 1824.
I do not know much about the Larsen family. Ole was my husband's great-great grandfather. Ole's son, Earl, divorced my husband's great-grandmother when their son, Harold, was quite young. |

I found Ole's confirmation record in Trefoldighet on 12 Apr 1874. He was born 3 Jan 1859. I am unable to find Tollie's confirmation.
Utflyttes have been checked, but I have found nothing.
I checked Oslo Domkirke birth records as well, but nothing... |

I decided to check http://search.labs.familysearch.org with the information we have found.
According to that site, Tolli August was born 17 Nov 1855 in Christiana and baptized 17 Aug 1856 at Gamle Aker. I am unable to find the scanned record.
Also, Ole Christian was born 3 Jan 1859 in Christiana and baptized 4 Sep 1859 in Christiana. Again, I am unable to find the scanned record.
The 1885 census in Nebraska also shows an Anna Larsen born about 1861 living with Karen, Tolli and Ole. I am unsure whether she is true family since I am unable to find any other information about her either. |

I noticed Anne was in the 1880 census also, and her age was given as 19, born in Norway.

Hi,
Isn't Annie the wife found with Ole in the 1900 census? What does the census say about the length of their marriage?

Unless Anna was living with the family before Ole and Anna were married in 1884, and her age is wrong, these Anna's are different.
Anna Christensen was born in Denmark in about 1868.
Anna Larsen was born in Norway about 1861. |

Tolli seems to play hide and seek with us, the information on him seems to be wrong. I wonder if he was christened Tollef /Tollev or Tolli, keep all options open.
I´ll bring up the 1865 census for the family again for a better overview.

Hi,
Yes I was curious about the prototype search engine at the familysearch.org site since Erik has found the long sought Oluf Christofferson there. I, too, found Tolli August there with the correct parents etc, but when I looked up the film number associated with his entry 125846 its description says it only covers the baptisms of "Gamle Aker" for 1831-1841. I was under the impression that the scanning was done from the "master" microfilms so now its not clear how the original LDS microfilming relate to the scans at digitilarkivet.
So there are two Anne/Anna in the household in 1885? For what its worth the 1880 identifies her as daughter to the head of the household Carrin..
Hilsen, Jackie M. |

Some information about Aker church and the church records.
Aker church mentioned in 1080 and Gamle Aker church (English link) is the same church, from 1861 the church was called "Gamle" Old Aker church when it was bought by Oslo municipality, a new church, Vestre (Western) Aker church was opened in 1855 and in 1860 still a new church, Ĝstre (Aker) church was opened for the congregation.
