Hi Borge and Einer,
Your research results you have posted have filled in a lot of gaps and help verify information we had. Thanks for that. Re the wording on back of the photo.
The fist line had been translated wrong and the name Marthehad been inserted where in actual fact it was addressed to my wife's grand father, Ottilie's son, Barth, (Andreas Barth Thom Hansen), the English translation of the letter is as follows,

Oslo 5.5.1939
"Dear Barth Hansen,
This photo of your mother is from the time when she was about 35 years old - she has no other photo of herself. Otherwise I shall send greetings and say that all is well with her at the moment.
Loving greeting from Mother and me. Yours, Agnes Hansen.
Havegt. 34, Oslo"

So we are looking only for Agnes if at all possible.
Also another piece of information if would help is that her daughter Dina when returning to America in 1912 to marry said her last place of residence was Drammen. Any more answers would be really appreciated.

Thanks again,

Alan & Jillian.

Dina was still in Nøtterø when she was confirmed, probably living with her uncle, see #14
here it is noted that her parents were Skibsfører Hans Olof Hansen, h. Otilie Olofsen.
Havegaten 34, Oslo is now Hagegata - you can see the building 34A by using http://www.1881.no/Map/ and "søk" (search) for Hagegata 34 - "velg" (choose) the one in Oslo and choose "Skråfoto".

Just wrote a long reply and it has disappeared.
Dina 1st went to America 3 April 1906 (did say ealier 1905, my mistake), on theHellig Olav from Christiana to stay with brother Jens Hansen in Manistee, Michigan, do not know when she came back to Norway but did go back to America from Christiana on Oscar 11 arriving Ellis Island 17 October 1912, to 333 Agar Street, Marquette, Michigan where she married Ernest Soreson 26 November 1912 and dies there 5 October 1974.
At the base of the original letter which is hard to read definately looks like "Havegt 34 Oslo", it has been slightly damaged but no "ne" after the "v". Thanks for all your efforts.

No parish records are available after 1924-26, have looked through birth records for Kampen parish 1920 - 26 (where births in Havegt. are recorded) - did not find any children with Agnes Hansen as a mother.
If Otilie were living at the same place, no death records are available after 1939.

When Dina left for USA in 1906 - there were altogether 12 persons from Nøtterø on the Hellig Olav, Dina 15 years old was the youngest one, see 178227
When she returned back in 1912 the purpose is stated "gifte seg" - get married. Her occupation was "husbestyrerinde" - housemanager.
