I am trying to locate the ship my grandfather came on from Norway. I know it was between 1866-68. I feel it was 1866. He was from Drobak, Norway and his name was Riulf Olai Anderson and came at the age of 8. His parents were Solbergs. I am guessing they went thru Christianna. There were Hans(about 4) and I think Clara was older than Olai and some other children. They went to New York I think and ended at Jefferson Prairie Wisconsin where Andreas died shortly after and then Hanna went to Rollag Minnesota. HELP????? Please . Olai or Ole went by that name rather than Riulf. I heard they probably went in the spring and it was 7-8 weeks sailing. Olai was born 1858.

On the right hand page - numbers 1 through 10 - I believe this may be Andreas & Hanna signing out of the parish. You could check various parish records for the births of the children. It gives ages and some years, but not names of all the children that I see. Someone on the list may be able to translate it for you.

Source information: Akershus county, Drøbak, Parish register (official) nr. I 2 (1858-1870), Migration records 1867, page 10.

They may well be listed on the passenger films, but the Oslo ones are not all transcribed yet. If you have access to an LDS library, you could check out the earliest films. They are not easy to use. The earliest ones are listed by Agent, so there are several places to check for 1867.

I am very grateful for your help. The documents are very hard to read but I can read some of them. It is wonderful of both of you to help me this way. I will find it easier to locate the ship now,. In this process I have found some relatives and the old trunk they brought from Norway! I might be back to trace my other grandfather too. Daniel D Tangen. He was from Finnskogan and married a Hanna too Thanks again Brenda
