I'm looking for information on my great grandpa and his family when they lived in norway.Names:Peder and Marit Rasmusen.Their children:Rasmus Pedersen(my grandpa)and his 2 siblings:Pethra and Ole.How can I find out who Peder"s parents were;when Peder was born and where?I heard,as a child,Rasmus was a shepherd before coming to the to the USA.Any info would be deeply appreciated Thank you jj(Juanita)

As you can see from this pages I, for one, are trying to help people out.

OK - you don't know when or where Peder were born. Probably not Marit, either. But Rasmus can't be a total mystery? Even though you may not know his birthdate/year either - at lest at some time he must have had an age(!?) which can give us a hint of when he was born.

We're talking about your grandfather. If you're a youngster at, say 15, your mother was about 20 when you were born and he simulary old when she was born Rasmus could be born around 1945. But if you're well into the grey hair, say 80, and there is a 35 year gap between the generations Rasmus could be about 100 years older...

Maybe my calculations are wrong, but help us to help you by giving a bit more information... :-))
It might be possible to trace them if you give us a hint of WHEN in time we shall look for them. OK - you don't know Peders birthdate/year. How about Rasmus'?

Or any idea of when they immigrated.

Nice to get up and about this morning to find your message.Thank you!!!Ok;here's what I have...Rasmus was born October 14,1863 in Romsdal(Rhomsdathlen)Valley,Norway.Parents:Peder(Per,Par)Tenseth(Tonset)Maret(Maritt)Oldsdatter(Olsdatter).Also,lived in Tynset?Marit was from a place near Lilliehammer.Rasmus herded sheep before coming to the States.Marit had a brother;Christian.Somewhere along the way(perhaps here in the States)surname changed to Olsen.Again:THANKS and have
