Looking for anyway to discover the years between 1900 and 1913 for Andreas Barth Thom Hansen. He was married in Victoria Australia 2 January 1913, from then on we know and before 1900 we know. It is those in between years and when he arrived in Australia. Any help appreciated.

If he left from Norway he would have had to register with the police and also have a military release to emigrate, you can try to find him here:

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/WebMeta.exe?slag=vismeny&fylkenr=&knr=&aar=&dagens=&katnr=5&alle=true

He would also have registered to leave from his parish (Utflyttede), not all are online for Nøtterøy, you can rent the microfilms at a local Family History Center, it does not appear that all the available records are complete and/or survived:

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titlefilmnotes&columns=*%2C0%2C0&titleno=252713&disp=Kirkeb%C3%B8ker++

He also may have left Nøtterøy and moved to another parish for awhile before emigrating.

In a separate posting you thought he may have emigrated in 1907 so that is a good date to start searching.

I know you have been searching for Andreas Barth Thom Hansen for a long time Alan, smart to bring him up again.

He is difficult to find, don´t give up, you will find him one day.
Do you know when or about when he was born?

I have a proposal. It´s likley a blind track, but worth a try. Thom could be Tom;

Andreas Barth Thom Hansen was born to Thom Hansen born to Hans Barth.
If so, Andreas was baptised Andreas T*****n (sensored, discriminating, nasty word in Norwegian) Tomsen

Here he is in Vestfold in the 1900 census going by Barth:

He was born Dec. 21, 1886 in Notteroy, father Hans Olaf Hansen, mother Otillie Olafsen.

To Kaarto & Jo Anne,

Thanks for your follow up, we will keep trying. We do have his birth his siblings,parents and even further back, we also have from 1913 onwards in Australia.

He did go by the name Barth for quite some years we do have a copy of a letter from an Agnes who was with his mother in Oslo in 1939 addressed to Barth ( she refers to being with our mother, we do not know who Agnes was poss from Otilie 2nd marriage to Sigurd Magnus Hansen 30 September 1899) and in later years in Perth Western Australia Barth went by the name Tom. Yes we will find those in between years.

You are right Jo Anne.

I have spend some time looking for him, the first Barth in Norway was Daniel Barth born March. 22. 1607 in Weissbach, Germany, he came to my hometown Kongsberg working for the Silver company about 1630. Still Barths living in Kongsberg, lots of them in Norway.

I bring up Andreas birth record, could be easier to search for him then.

Andreas Barth Tom Hansen born on farm Horprødrydningen, Nøtterøy, Vestfold County on Dec. 21. 1886, christened Jan. 16. 1887 in Nøtterøy church from 1100, born to Shipmaster Hans Olaf Hansen and Othilie Olafsen #10

In 1900 he was a upper-secondary school pupil and fosterson living at Fredrik and Ingeborg Finsen.

The records for Nøtterø/Nøtterøy here
