Mary is right....that is why the census and marriage are important.
Peder, like I said before....sometimes it's just hit and miss. Collecting as many "clues" as possible surrounding an event can help determine where to look for records.
I have looked for the marriage of Johanne and Marthe....have not found anything yet. Another thing to look for would be more children in common. I have looked a little but have so far not found any.
Johanne would have been extremely young when Andreas was born, if we ASSUME Marthe was around the same age....perhaps they never married....just a thought |

Have you ever communicated with Bill Griswold? He posted the following on GenForum in 2003 quote: Looking for my great-grandmother Elen Julia (Julie) Olsen, b. 1857 in Haabøl, Norway, resided at Akersveien 25, Kristainia, Norway at he time of the 1900 Norway Census. She was widowed at that time, to the former Andrew Johansen, who died prior to the 1900 Norway census. Their children who lived with her at the time were: -
Janna Kristine Johansen, b. 07-19-1889 -
Ole Martin Johansen, b. 11-19-1879
She had three other children: -
Thorvald Marius Johansen b. 02-19-1882 -
Marie Johansen-
and Anna Johansen

The next lead to follow might be when Andreas (and family?) moved from Spydeberg to Hobøl. You might be able to find records for when they emigrated from Spydeberg and when they immigrated into Hobøl.
The other avenue would be to find a bygdebooks where someone taken the time to sort thru the records and add some organization. I had success with one that took me back three more generations. |
