Im wondering if there are any people out there that could check if there is any information about Arne Rolf Bendixen born 1928 on ancestry.com. I've found him in the SSDI as died in 1995 Brooklyn, New York, USA. He is born 6th October 1928 in Oslo Norway.

Im not sure when he arrived in New York, but i hope there are passenger records that could tell if he travelled alone or with someone and when he arrived in the USA.

Any help is mostly appriciated

There are about 26 records for the names Arne Rolf Bendixen, Rolf Bendixen, and Arne Bendixen in the New York Passenger Lists1820-1957. One would assume that they are all the same person however they do differ in age, many of the early ones list his age such that his birth year would be 1923. Here is the first record by date. These Arne Rolf Bendixens appear to be a seaman not a passenger.

Name: Rolf Bendixen
Arrival Date: 18 Oct 1948
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1923
Age: 25
Port of Departure: Oslo, Norway
Ethnicity/Race/Nationality: Norwegian
Ship Name: Bowrio
Search Ship Database: Search the Bowrio in the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Line: 6
Microfilm Serial: T715
Microfilm Roll: T715_7667
Page Number: 23

Hi and thank you so much for the lookups.
I was wondering if it was possible to get a copy or screencapture of the first record you found, if i give you my email adress.

Does the first record say anything else, like who he visited or where he was going, nearest relatives or is it just a registration of one of his trips as a seaman.

Thanks again

Yes, ancestry.com does allow one to "Share the screen image". To do that send me your e-mail address. It is best if you click on my lyndal40 name and send me an e-mail through that system. I will then e-mail you the image.

The first record I posted is a Document called "Notice to Detain, Deport or Remove Aliens. Arne Rolf Bendixen is on the list as a person who is part of the page tited "Crewmen left in hospital". It is more complete than the other records as it gives his complete birth date which is 6 Oct 1928.

The rest of the records are lists usually titled "List or Manifest of Aliens Employed on the Vessel as Members of the Crew". The are mainly very short descriptions of the crew with only their name, country of origin and age. However a few do have more detail such as height, weight etc. I will also e-mail an example of that type of original image as well.

For the e-mail you will recieive directly from ancestry.com a short e-mail. In the middle of the e-mail, usually in yellow letters will be the brief statement something like "click here to view the orginal image". You also will probably have to download an image viewer from ancestry.com. It is not difficult to do.
