What happend with Arthur, and are there descendents?

Jo(h)n Martin Johansen Dybvig left Norway april 8. 1883 heading for Chicago.
About half a year later, september 18. 1883 his soon Arthur Andreas born may 5. 1883 and his mother Isabella Dorthea Nilssen followed .
She traveld together with her brother Johan (Jon) Meyer Nilssen.
As far as I know Jo(h)n Martin and Isabella never married.

Jo(h)n Martin married Amalie (Emilie) Simonsen some time before september 1889.

On ancestry.com there are 19 men registering for WWI draft born in Norway with birth year of 1883. None in May, none named Arthur, Andreas or Nilssen. Good idea to check tho.

I also tried other sorting methods such as all men with birth date of 5 may 1883 and name Arthur or Nilsson etc. with no luck.

Emigrants from Trondheim 19.september 1883 to Hull in Great Britain, final destination Chicago.

Jon Nilss. unmarried seaman 25 years old.
Artur Dybvig 4 mnth.
Iabella Nilss. unmarried 27 years old.

As we can see some letters are missing in the registration.

Isabella Dorthea Nilssen was born 5.mars 1833.
Arthur Andreas was born 9.may 1883

Isabellas ticket was payed from US.
Arthur and Jon's was payed in Norway.

Hi,

SSDI has 13 Arthur of every last name born 9 May 1883 but no other obvious connection to Arthur Dybvig.

Who did Isabella know in U.S. who would've paid her ticket other than John Martin Dybvig?

As far as I know it was John M. who payed for her. Thats what I always have been told, and the passanger record from Trondheim only tell "payd in US".

John's first child with Amalie was born sept. 1889, and I think he married Amalie before that.

But he never married Isabella.

So the big question that noone have managed to get an answer on yet is, what happend with Isabella and Arthur.

On Ancestry emigration/imigration there is one Isabella Niles. who came from Southampton UK, but I have not been able to see the details.

I tried searching ancestry.com emigration/immigration for an Isabella Niles leaving from Southampton but only came up empty. The only one that comes close to your comment in the above posting is going in the other direction.. From New York to Southampton. See below.

Name: Isabella Niles
Birth Date: abt 1862
Age: 58
Port of Departure: New York, New York, United States
Arrival Date: 15 Jul 1920
Port of Arrival: Southampton, England
Ports of Voyage: Cherbourg
Ship Name: Imperator

If you can direct my search with more information I will try again.

John M. Dybvig
Spouse: AMALIE SIMONSON
Marriage: 15 MAY 1886, Cook County, Illinois

John Martin Dybvig died Aug. 24, 1939 in Chicago.

You wrote that Isabella was born in 1833. Are you sure that's correct?!

She was 27 when she went from Norway, so it should be about 1855 I think.

Here is a very good candidate. She is travelling with John Nilson, 25 years old. The orginal manifest is difficult to read but I would interpret it to read that the two of them John and Isabella are travelling with an infant. Interpreted that way the infant is not named.

Name: Isabella D Nilsen
Arrival Date: 10 Oct 1883
Gender: Female
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
Ship Name: Lord Clive
Port of Arrival: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Last Residence: Norway
Birthplace: Norway
