Hello everyone,
I am chasing the Steiner family line, from Australia – back to Norway - and then …..
I have included some of what I have for you here:
Emil Adolph Stainer Birth 5 Jul 1861 in Bergen Hordaland Norway Death 29 July 1944 in Narrabeen NSW Australia.
His Parents: Edward Gustav Steiner Birth 1832in Bergen Hordaland Norway Death1877 in Solheimeviken, Bergen, Norway & Else Mariane Billington Birth 28 Aug 1827 in Egersund, Rogaland, Norway Death May 1907 in Bergen, Hordaland, Norway
I have two more generations on Else Mariane Billingtons line and am hoping someone out there can help me go back further on Edward Gustav Steiners line.
I only read English, so even when I find records in other languages, I cannot decipher them, unfortunately.
I am wondering if anyone has connections to this family?
Or if anyone has connections with any Steiner family who came to Australia?
I do have other information I can share with anyone who is a part of this line in Australia.
Kind regards

Edwards wife Mariane and her children in 1865 Edward is not listed with his family since he at that time was imprisoned at Botsfængslet. Have so far not been able to verify birth/baptism of Edward and Marianes children, nor their forefathers. This is very strange and make me believe the dates and places given might not be the right ones.

You can use the article about Norwegian Census Records in this group of helpful articles to translate the column headings of the 1865 census. Follesdal's Ancestors From Norway
That group of articles linked above also includes a very good list of translated words - from Norwegian to English. Also use another helpful translation lists which is found under Links which you will see in the upper right area of this webpage. Norwegian - American Dictionary

Eibache & Hopkins, thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it.
I am off on 2 weeks holidays tomorrow so will not get to look into it in depth until my return.
It would be wonderful to have each of the certificates translated into english. Do either of you know if it is possible to do that?
Thank you both again :-) |

Of course it is possible, it just requires that you put a little bit of effort into it.
You can use the article about Norwegian Church Records (Kirkebøker) in this group of helpful articles to translate the column headings of those pages. Follesdal's Ancestors From Norway
That group of articles linked above also includes a very good list of translated words - from Norwegian to English. Also use another helpful translation lists which is found under Links which you will see in the upper right area of this webpage. Norwegian - American Dictionary

Hello All Norwegian Billington are related. The first "Jochum Staley Billington" was born in Carribian island 1746 and married Anne Lourette Olsdatter Berg in Kristiansand 5 January 1773. They got two boys(twins) in November same year. My mothers maiden name was Billington, and if you want to know more about Billington from Norway, I might be able to help you.
Good Luck |
