Can someone help me to find out what happend to my grandfathers sister?
Her given name was Teoline Josefine, but I think she only used Josefine.
She was born 17. july 1879 on Egeland, Vanse in Vest-Agder, Norway. In 1900 she was living in Vanse with her parents, and her daugther Jennie or Jenny. Jennie was born 23 feb. 1900 in Stavanger, Norway. Her father was Trygve Steenberg.
In 1909 Josefine and her two children Jennie age 9 and Adver age 3 arrives in the USA. The imigrationpapers states that she had lived in the US from 1902-08. Her husbond name was Peder Lambert.
I dont have any information about this family after 1909.

Yvonne.

Hi,
census-1910 for Brooklyn, Kings, New York:

Peter Lambert, born 1881
Josephine Lambert, born 1880
Zanie Lambert, born 1900
Advel Lambert, born 1906
Peter A Lambert, born 1910

SSDI (Social Security Death Index) have a record of one PETER A LAMBERT, b. 06 Mar 1910, d. 01 Oct 1995. Maybe order that record to check what it says?

Jan Peter

I think Lyndal has found the right family. Is it possible to find out more about them?

This may be Josephine in US Census 1930. I say maybe because Peter is gone as well as the children from 1910 and we have two new children Arthur born in 1910, although Arthur could actually be Peter A Lambert with the A standing for Arthur, and a girl Annie born in 1913 in Montana. Josephine is listed as age 50 ie born in 1880 and immigrated in 1903, so that fits. Her occupation is listed as mid-wife.

Name: Josephine Lambert
Home in 1930: Brooklyn, Kings, New York

Age: 50
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1880
Birthplace: Norway
Relation to Head of House: Head
Race: White

Household Members: Name Age
Josephine Lambert 50
Arthur Lambert 20
Annie Lambert 17

The Josephine in the US Census 1930 is possibly the one I`m looking for. I was told that she worked as a mid-wife.

The spelling of her last name made the 1920 US Census Record a little hard to find. She is still living in New York but is now a widow.

Name: Josephina Lumbert
[Josephine O. Smith]
Home in 1920: Brooklyn Assembly District 8, Kings, New York
Age: 40 years
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1880
Birthplace: Norway
Relation to Head of House: Head
Father's Birth Place: Norway
Mother's Birth Place: Norway
Marital Status: Widow
Race: White
Home owned: Rent
Year of Immigration: 1904
Able to read: Yes
Able to Write: Yes
Image: 571
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age
Josephina Lumbert 40
Adebell Lumbert 14
Auther Lumbert 9
Annie Lumbert 7
Thomas Lumbert

I doubt if the last child is named Thomas. I find the name impossible to read but the readable data indicates the child is 5 and a female. In this record the birth place for Annie is given as New York, so I think the Montana listed in 1930 was probably an error.
