Hi,
while Einar looks after more records I have some information to share with you.

See central in this map.

South from Kristiansund and east from Molde town you will find Langefjorden, it turn right and ends in Eresfjord country side, Sira sub parish, Nesset municipality.
The cross at Eresfjord is Sira church from 1869 (only in Norwegian) with a link to Nesset

The river running into the fjord comes further south from Lake Eikesdalsvatnet, Neeraas (todays Nerås) and Øveraas (Øverås) is located on the huge moraines which dam up the lake, see this photo (not sure if Neraas in one of the farms)

Enter this map. write; eikesdalsvatnet, press SØK, then choose velg, zoom out 6 times and Øverås appear north at the lake, zoom in 3 times just north from Øverås along the road and Nerås appears.
Change to Foto on top line and watch the farm.

Good luck.

Kåre

Thanks! This is great. I have been trying to follow all of this on "Google maps". It doesn't always show all the older names or provinces but it shows most of these places.

Since I live in the USA, it is impossible for me to find all of this information on my own. I had found much of it through census information, but not all, and some of my information/ guesses were not fully correct on the Neeraas side of the family. I want to thank you all for your help.
Six months ago, no one in our family knew anything about the Norwegan side of the family. Since my grandfather Peter Larsen (Edward and Marrianne's son) was an orphan, and he never spoke of his family as it was too painfull, my father and his brothers never knew anything about his family heritage. I wanted to do this while he was still alive, so he would know at least something about his family.

Much of my family's past history questions have been answered. I still want to find out more about Florence and Olga Larsen, who were sent back to Norway. these records would not be as old and may be under other juristictions but would be great to learn more about.
When I was a small child, a young woman came to visit our family. She was from Norway and was related to us through Florence I think. Somehow she found our family in the USA and she came to visit us. We just don't remeber that much, and we lost contact with her. Her name may have been Eva ....
Anyway, we would love to find these contacts but we just don't know how to do this. The language barrier is also hard for us.

Yes, he is still alive and he is happy to see what we have learned. He had a box of old photograohs with several of these people from Norway but since he did not know who his relatives were, he could not understand the relationships of all of these photos/ people to him.
Norway is beautiful. Someday I would love to come over to visit!

You should do that one day.
Not easy to find pictures, exept that they rent out cabins for tourists on Øverås including Salomon fishing but the link did not cooperate

Say hello from Norway Heritage to your father

Just found the passenger list for Florence Larsen's return trip to Kristiansund in 1908. It was located in British arrival records. She went from Boston, Massachusetts to Liverpool, arriving June 11th 1908. The trip ticket was to continue on to Christiansund. She is only 8 years old and she is acompanied by Alice Neeraas, who I think may be Olise Neeraas, Marrianne's sister.
This gives more information to use to look for Florence once she returned to Norway. Remember that the postcard of Kristiansund that I spoke of earlier was from and "Ant Allice and grandma" to Florence's brother Oscar, in the USA. The post card mentioned Flornce's marriage.
It is noteworthy that her older sister Olga Larsen is not with her on this trip.
Now all of this information leads me to think that Florence probably did stay with Alice and her Grandmother Oline Marrie Neeraas.
Perhaps the 1910 Norwegan Census will shed some new light on this. I do not have access to that here in the USA yet.

Maybe the confirmation record for Mariane Amanda Neeraas is of interest, it is #155 she was born May 16 1871 and baptized Sept 3. Parents are listed as Peder Neeraas and wife Oline.

We know that the 1875 and 1900 census are the correct person as all the apropriate family members are there, so the question revolves around the 1865 census.
here he is in the 1865 census. He was then a longshoreman, in 1875 he was listed as day labourer and in 1900 he was a registered merchant in housewares!

Edna Florence Marion Larsen married stoker Toralf Kristian Røbech Sept 13 1924, see #63.
Toralf Kristian was born in Christiansund in 1895 and his father was a machinist.
(From the yellow pages there are some 30 persons with the family name Røbech in Kristiansund today.)

Thanks Einar,
That was good to find the marriage infoormation for Florence. I am sure that they had children. I think I have some photos of them but I'm not sure of whom they are exactly. The names are Oscar and Kjell? Are there birth records for them after 1924?
I wunder what happened to Olga? We kno wvery little about her and I could not find any record of her returning to Norway as the family believes happened.
I have an ant who went to visit people over in Kristiansund back in the early 1960's. She remembers Florence and thinks Olga was there too. It was a long time ago and she does not remember all of the names. She said that she remembers that Florence and maybe Olga were no longer married but I don't know all of that for sure.

Before I forget, I just wanted to wish you and Kåre a happy New Year!

Happy New year Eric.
The 1910 census for Norway, registered Dec. 1. will be online 2010 (100 years rule). Then follows 1920-30-46.
The 1910 census for returning Norwegian-Americans contents place of living before they emigrated, occupation and recidence in USA.
In 1910 there were 19.323 registered returnees from USA.

2010 is two days away. Is there a planned date for the release of the census information on line?
Eric.

Much of this work is based on volunteers from historian assosiations working for Digitalarkivet.
It will be available from parish to parish as soon it´s finished.
Perhaps some has alredy done the job?
