2992 Susanna Andersdtr Deres børn 4 Ugivt translated 2992 Susanna Andersdatter (Anders daughter) their child 4 years old not married (reasonable for the age!) Except for abbreviations and maybe old spelling the online translater may be useful |

Can you actually order a birth certificate from Norway? Does the baptism info give a town or farm they came from?
Pardon my ignorance
Kind regards

Living persons may ask for an attestation, if your interest is a proof of baptismal records you can make copies from the parish records. Most baptismal records indicate where the parents were living, in most cases farms. It would be easier if you can state your spesific interest. |

While browsing the website I have seen the mention of lists of emigrants made up by the Norwegian police. Is it possible to search these?
I tried to make a donation but when I clicked on playpal link it was in what I assume was Norwegian, I wasn't sure what details I was entering. Is it possible to get it to display in English? Thanks again

The emigrant protocols (registers) created by the Norwegian police in the various ports of departure are most easily available in electronic database format at the Digitalarkivet website.
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~norway/DigitalArchives.html
Most of the original protocols have also been microfilmed and you can order and use those at an LDS Family History Center. Use the Library Catalog and do a Place search for the port of departure you would wish to investigate. http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp

Have found information on Anna Andersen and Jens and Amalia Andersen her parents on shipping list for the Friedeburg which sailed from Hamburg, Germany, on 07 May 1875. It arrived Napier, New Zealand, on 24 August 1875, after a passage of 108 days with a passenger list at Napier Museum, but no mention of Samson Johannes Salamonson in passenger or crew detail whom I was told by a grandparent was part of ships crew but does not mention much in way of shipping staff. I am trying to find and old newspaper around the time to see if there was any news of a crewman jumping ship. No luck for the 24 -31st August 1875. or are ther lists of ships deserters?
