Anders Svor who was born 14 December 1864 on the middle Svor farm in Hornindal was the third son to Rasmus A. Svor and Ragnhild Svor, born Seljeset . Anders Svor had two older brothers and four younger sisters. Anders, his two older brothers and their parents in 1865. Baptismal records Anders, #3 Ole Severin, #117. Arne, #31.

It is the number of the baptismal record, and it is a hyperlink, click on it and you will see the handwritten record. (The same is true for the other numbers, and sometime words which are undelined and in bold characters.)

Good information about translating the formats of Norwegian parish church records during various time periods, many of the basic terms used and understanding how to use the information should be studied at this web site - http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~norway/na20.html

I think Anders Svor never married.
In 1900 Anders Svor lived St. Olav street 24,Oslo, occ. Sculptor, unmarried. Anders Svor died alone in his studio Mai. 2.1929. He is buried in the cemetery at Hornindal church.
It was his brother Ola Svor who saved his lagre collection of sculptures which for many years were stored in an old barn.
Ola Svor died three years before the Svor Museum was opened 1953.
Ola Svor was judge and mayor of Hornindal from 1902-13 and 1917-19

Thanks all of you for your input. The family tree I have is a little confusing to me, it goes back to Jon Ericson Mjanger born 1767-1847 married to Gjertrud Ivarsdatter Andvik no birth date but death date 1818. It also shows a Olson Haugsvoer born 1753-1838 married to (I can only make out last name Rasumsdatter) born 1763 ( doesn't show date died). I see later down the family tree a Ragnhild born 1859 with a sibling Severin born 1871. There are some other siblings of theirs also but I don't see them mentioned in the above. Anyway their last names were Knudson Andvik(Kvinge). I found a death certificate for my grandmother's father whose name was Ole Anderson, it lists his parents as Anders Svord and Brite Svord but it doesn't have her great grandparents listed on the family tree. It looks like the family tree only goes way back on my Grandpa's side. Also I notice their last name spelled with a "d" at the end. Svord not Svor. My father always told me that Anders Svor, the wood carver was a great great uncle. |

My dad and I are very close and we always talked about his ancestry, he is stricken with alzheimer's disease and cannot communicate. I get to see him often and I want to be able to tell my children about their ancestry so my search goes on. I realize that the info I have provided throughout my posts doesn't really connect so far. My Aunt Sheila whom lives in Seattle told me the other day that Ander's Svor was a half brother to either my great grandpa or my greatgrandpa, obviously I had it wrong about being my grandma's grandfather if Ander's was never married. I was mistaken in my earlier post about him being my grandma's grandfather. Ander's Svord is obviously a different person than Anders Svor. |

I don't know where they fit in your tree, but bachelor Jon Ericson Meanger was married to widow Giertrud Iversdatter Andvik Jan 2 1800, see 3rd line from bottom of right page. Also Mikel Olsen (1748) and Brita Rasmusdatter (1749) and their children resided on Høgsværd (Haugsvoer) in 1801.

My Grandma Ingaborgh Anne Anderson was born in Norway in 1896, she traveled with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ole Anderson on the Saxonia passinger liner in 1904, they came to the US through Boston. I found this out today.

Your g-greatparents Ole and Oline with their children travelled via Bergen June 28 1901, see #1355-1360 (Your grandmother is on the next page) Since the children Anders Julius and Egil Bertinus is listed as born in "Minn. Nordamerika", this trip must be the second time they travelled to US. Also if you found that they arrived in Boston in 1904, that must be their third trip!

If you have not seen the baptismal record for your Grandma it is #9 (on lower part of page which is for females) she was born on Midtgaard Jan 28 and baptized Ingeborg Anna April 19. The baptismal record for her father Ole Andreas Larsen is #28 (his parents Anders Olsen and Brite Knudsdatter are the "Anders and Brite Svord" you have) Anders Olsen was baptized April 9 1815, see #18 his parents were Ole Sivert Knudsen and Synneve Andersdatter. (Anders was the brother of Ingeborg Olsdatter who was Oline Severine Eriksdatters mother) Brithe Knudsdatter was baptized Nov 6 1808. Her parents were Knud Olsen and Ingeborg Ramusdatter. Knud Olsen was baptized Sept 15 1756, see last record in 2nd column. Ingeborg Rasmusdatter was baptized July 2 1775, see 3rd record in 3rd column. The baptismal record for her mother Oline Severine Eriksdatter is #22 (Olines parents Erik Larsen and Ingeborg Olsdatter were living with their daughters family on Brendefur in 1900) last |
