Anne Gurines father Torsten Andersen, Alstad was born in July, most likely the 10th, 1820, see #73 - his parents being Anders Pedersen and Gunnild Torstensdatter.
In Ane Gurines baptismal record is a note saying that Torsten Andersen was the father of another child born out of wedlock in 1845, see bapt. record for #212 Anne Lovise.

Anna Gurine Torstensdatter and Jacob Andreas Søderlund were married Jan ? 1876 in Kristiansund. (From info in bapt. record for Tormod)

And in census-1900 for Nitedal, Akershus, we find one Casper Sderlund, born 1880.
His profession is bread-making(!), and he is born in Kristiansund(!)
I believe Casper could be a brother of Johan Marius.
Jan Peter

Casper's wife, Anna, is listed on the same page of the 1900 Nitedal, Akershus census. Anna Andreasdatter b. 1883, working as a salesgirl in a boutique.

I have pictures of the building that was the bakery where Casper worked, and also of the boutique. Both buildings are on the same property and that's how Casper and Anna came to meet.

Jacob Andreas Soderlund is the father of Johan and Casper. The Anna Soderlund shown above is the wife of Casper, as it states. Surviving should be Mrs. "David" Elder (Ingrid Soderlund).

Gladys' husband, Leslie Pekkala died in Aug 1963, Arthur (Casper's son), died in Oct 1963, Casper died in Nov 1963, and Anne Jensen Soderlund died in Feb 1964.

Jacob Andreas, Anne Gurine, Casper, and Anne Jensen Soderlund are all buried at Oneota cemetery in Duluth, MN.

The 1865 census fits what I've been told by my mother, Gladys Soderlund. That Casper's grandfather was a sea captain. It also may explain why Soderlund "sounds Swedish". According to the 1865 census, Petter Magnus Soderlund was born in Sweden.

I just want to give my personal thanks for all that was done by so many people in this search for info on Johan Soderlund.

It fills in many blanks for me, a very proud Soderlund of Norwegian descent. And best of all, you have helped us to connect with Jack, who has been there all along, but we had no idea!
