There is a lady in Montanta that does lookups and I sent her what I had and if she could find any marriage records. My friend Jack says that is mother Grace Jean George married Johan Marius Soderlund in 1939 in either Malta, Phillips County or Helena, Lewis and Clark County Montanta USA. Also asked about Tormod Soderlund.

Hi Wayne,

Great!

Does anyone on forum have access to the 1905 Minnesota State Census to look for Jacob and his family and Johan Marius Soderlund?

Also Anna Suderland, born 1883. Prob. Casper's wife.

I don't have access to the image, which might reveal more info...?

Hi Jan Peter,

I have occasional access to Ancestry and I had a few minutes tonight and I think the census taker in that section had some of the worst handwriting I've ever seen. Interpretations are about as accurate a rendition of the writing as possible.

The 3 siblings, Tormod, Sigrid and Caroline are in the same household as the folks even though their last names are spelled differently. Casper and Anna as you surmised. Casper's occupation was "baker" and he and Anna are on a different page than the rest of the family. But Ligrett is a version of Sigrid, I think and Sigrid appears to be in the census twice, once with the folks and another listing on the same page as Casper & Anna but farther down the page, working as a "domestic" in the city of Austin. So no additional names of siblings in the family, darn the luck...

Hilsen,
Jackie M.

Here is Jacob's confirmation record and he is identified as Søderlund, he's #1 on the page. More clarification on parents' names and text needed:
I don't find any respons to this, so the note below Søderlund is (Adoptivnavn) - who adopted him is shown in the 1865 census.

Got the information from the gov't, what a waste of money. No indication of who his parents where. So I guess that was a dead end.
