Jo[h]n Andersen b. 31 Jan 1853 emigrated to USA from Hørvemoen (or Hyrvemoen) in Skjak, Oppland, Norway. I cannot find when he emigrated, his ship, or his whereabouts in USA.

His sister Mari Andersdtr. Hørvemoen b. 15 Mar 1857 travelled from Oslo with Angelo 2 May 1884. Her name is then spelled Marie Andersen see http://www.digitalarkivet.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=54&filnamn=EMIOSLO&gardpostnr=63052&merk=63052#ovre

Another sister Anne Andersen b. 25 Oct 1862 travelled from Oslo to New York with Rollo 19 Jun 1885 see http://www.digitalarkivet.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=62&filnamn=EMIOSLO&gardpostnr=69958&merk=69958#ovre

Their parents were Anders Jonsen Hørvemoen b. 25 May 1827 and Livø Samuelsdtr. Langleite b. 26 Mar 1827.

I have searched for those relatives of mine for many years, without results. So any hints on them will be greatly appreciated. I want to know where they moved to and settled down, and if they have descendants living now.

Searching the Ancestry.com immigration data base only turns up one Anne Andersen. There is no information in the original manifest that would indicate that this is or is not the correct Anne Andersen.

Name: Anne Andersen
Arrival Date: 10 Sep 1885
Estimated birth year: abt 1863
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Port of Departure: Glasgow, Scotland and Larne, Ireland
Destination: United States of America
Place of Origin: Norway
Ethnicity/Race/Nationality: Norwegian
Ship Name: State of Indiana
Search Ship Database: Search the State of Indiana in the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database
Port of Arrival: New York

I'm not sure. Anne's "departure" from Skjak is logged In the Skjak Church Registry on 25 Feb1890 as follows: "...har her ikke været bunden ved offl. Ægteskabsløfte og havt Adgang til H. Nadvære, men skal være emigreret til Amerika for nogle Aar side...".

In short, this means that the church is of the opinion that Anne emigrated to USA "some years ago". And I find only one Anne Andersen from Skjak in the emigrant lists, and she departured from Oslo in 1885.

Not having much luck with searching directly for the three Andeson siblings so I branched out. In the Emigranter fra Oslo you provided a link to I notice a Berit C Qvale. An unusual name which might be easier to find. No luck searching immigration but I did find her in Ancestry.com Personal Trees. See below

Berit Kvale
Birth 23 Oct 1866 in Vang Volders, Norway

She is married to Sjur Nes and they seem to go by the name Shurson and she is found in 1900 US Census

Name: Birgit Shurson
[Brigit Shurson]
Home in 1900: New Richland, Waseca, Minnesota
Age: 33
Birth Date: Oct 1866
Birthplace: Norway
Race: White
Gender: Female
Immigration Year: 1885
Relationship to Head of House: Wife
Father's Birthplace: Norway
Mother's Birthplace: Norway
Mother: number of living children: 5
Mother: How many children: 5
Spouse's name: S O
Marriage Year: 1887
Marital Status: Married
Years Married: 13
Residence : New Richland Township, Waseca, Minnesota

The important thing to me is that she lists her immigration date as 1885 which fits with the link you posted. Now why can I not find her and thus Anne Andersen.

Hi,

Two very long shots here, from the Wisconsin Historical society's genealogy index:

Horve, Anna Marriage Oct 07 1897 Lafayette
to Broge, Roberts Marriage Oct 07 1897 Lafayette

and

Horve, Mary Marriage Apr 30 1894 Milwaukee
to Mcmahon, Frank J Marriage Apr 30 1894 Milwaukee

You might want to consider how a name like Hørvemoen could be altered to English. Harvey or Horvey might be an interesting English equivalent....

I have looked at the Family Tree on Ancestry.com for Charles Frederick Lundgren husband of Mary Moe. A person listed there as a relative is a Erik Persson Skamsar born 27 AUGUST 1880 • Skjåk, Oppland, Norway and who died there in 1965. He can be traced through this immigration record and I did see your Geni.com page on him.

Name: Erik Skamser
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Birth Date: abt 1880
Departure Date: 23 May 1902
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
Destination Port: New York, USA
Ship Name: Celtic

And to his arrival

Erik P S Ramser
in the New York, Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
Name: Erik P S Ramser
Arrival Date: 1 Jun 1902
Birth Date: abt 1880
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/ Nationality: Norwegian
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Celtic

The record states that he is traveling to a Anna Larson and to Wisconsin perhaps Washburn County?
