Line #13 for Anne Torgersdatter - are there any clues to where she was born in this?

Does it say Iver Pedersen's wife?

No reference to where she was born, but there is a reference to page 756 in the "List of reference" records.

There she is listed as #1890:
Source information: Østfold county, Fredrikstad, Parish register (official) nr. 4 (1816-1834), List of reference 0, page 756-757.

Yes thank you. She is Iver Pedersen's wife.

I think this link is taking me back to her death record if I am reading it right.

Yes.
The 3 first columns are used for "Where listed as born", "Where listed as confirmed" and "Where listed as married".
Unfortunately, only the column "Where listed as dead" is filled out.

David, Did you thoroughly exhaust searching the birth records of Fredrikstad for the expected ca. 1784 time period of Anne's birth? Then the confirmation records for young persons about 14-17 years of age? Check for marriage records before the son you started this search with?

I did a brief search for males all over Norway in the 1801 census database with given names starting with 'Iv' and last names/patronymics starting with 'Pe' of an age that fit based on your man's age when he died -- a little winnowing of names not similiar to Iver/Ivar/etc. and the 1801 census only listed about 31 persons. Some of those still appear in the 1865 Norwegian census (same location, right age category) so those would be eliminated from consideration. I didn't spend a great deal of time testing this process - just wanted to see if it might be a search method for you that could help.

I have not used the 1801 census at all - where do you find it? I have only used the NHDC which has with 1865, 75 and 1900.

I did go thru the marriages and looked for children born prior to the son I started with but found none. Making me think they moved in from somewhere else. Iver was in the military according to his death record.

I appreciate the advice. Lots to digest. Great that this is online and so accessible.

Oooooh, the 1801 census database has been online for years and years and years. It was the first thing I used when I started looking for Norwegian farm names.

The Digitalarkivet has MANY databases now and they keep adding more - the scanned records collection is relatively new addition for them. The search functions differ from the NHDC databases but they can be useful in their own way. Someone has created a "how-to" website that will probably be helpful.

I have been given a copy of an old letter saying that the correct name is Anne Gertrud Torgalsdatter and that she was born in Id or Idd. 14 March 1786. I have not been able to locate this record? It also said her husband was Iver Pedersen from Øymark, born 1792 - I can not find that record either....
great clues but not having much luck following up on them! Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The records for Berg, Halden and Idd, link

I believe Torgal was born in Idd parish, bap. Sept. 19. 1756 and that his father Syver Bøen was same person as Syver Torgalsen and that his mother was Marthe Nielsdatter.

Good luck.

Kare - thank you so much - this all makes sense to me with the other clues I have so this is definitely the right records. The letter I have references Torgald Syversen and Karen Brynhildatter but not who they were - I thought they were her parents but it had Karen being baptized 31/08/1760 and being dead in 1783. Since the same note said Anne was born in 1786 I thought these might not be her parents. But now seeing they had Anne's birth year wrong it looks like they have her mothers death date wrong too.
Definitely an exciting find!

OK some dumb luck - I just found this record - #10 last entry on right page

Source information: Østfold county, Halden, Parish register copy nr. 1 (1815-1833), Death and burial records 1823-1824, page 250-251.
Permanent pagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=7417&idx_id=7417&uid=ny&idx_side=-130
Permanent imagelink: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20061010050249.jpg

This looks to be Karen's death record? or is it for Torgal? What does it say?

thanks

The right page is used for "Døde Qvindekjøn" = deaths for females.
#10 Karen Brynildsdatter, widow after Torgal Syversen died Jan 5 and was burried Jan 11 1823, she was 61 years old.
