I am an Australian travelling to Norway, Grimstad, to find the house my mother lived in. Her father's name was Charles Christian Borhaven ( born 1891)and my grandmother 's name was Ingeborg. They had two children Johanne,(my mother) and Annelise. My mother is now 88years of age and living in Australia. If anyone could help with information on Brevik house in Grimstad.that would be great

The record for your grandmothers baptism is #4 (lower part of the page)
She was baptized at home Febr 2 by Captain Alfred Gundersen and this was confirmed in church March 15.
In this record is stated that they were living at Brevig, Fjære. I have not been able to find this location in a map, yet.
Your great grandfather Charles Borhaven was living with his grandmother in 1900, he was born in Kristiania (Oslo) and his father was absent (probably a seaman). They were living

I believe Brevig is written Breivig today. You may search by copying
Breivig (Vik i sjø), Grimstad, Aust-Agder
into the "Søk" area
in this map
and click on the first "Velg".
You may also serch for
Ulenes (Gårdsbruk), Grimstad, Aust-Agder
which is the farm close to where your great grandfather was living in 1900.

My name is Heather Borhaven from Canada, and am sure my grandfather had a brother named Charles and few other brothers. I too am looking for information on the family Borhaven. My grandfather's name was Fredrik Chritian Borhaven. I have a picture of a lady and gentleman, I believe to be possibly his parent or a Brother & Sister. I was told his parents by one person, and another thought the lady was his sister. The information is vague, so am uncertain of the facts. All the Borhaven's in Canada are related and either children, grandchildren, great or great great grandchildren of my grand father, who was a tall gentleman as I remember. Two of his sons and one daughter live in British Columbia Canada, my father is 86 years old and in good health.
I am very interested in finding out more about my heritage, and would be happy to hear from you. My email address is: heather.gb77@telus.net
