Thank you so much, Kåre! It is amazing that you have lived at Ormetangen! And also that Halvor, the first settler at Bustul, is one of your ancestors as well as mine (as far as I have been able to trace). I am so impressed by all the information you seem to have. Anne Lise

Hi. Ormetangen in the -50s was without electrisity and road. Only acess was by foot or with horse and cart. Although there was a wonderful place to grow up with lodgers as loggers and horsemen. In the free time you could fish in the lakes, hunting in the fall, guests throghout the summer. Nearest neighbor was a tourist lodge "Skrimhytta" ab. 3 Kilometer from Ormetangen.
We had to move when I was to start school, ab. 5-6 kilometer down in the village.

Hi, I'm Jon Kvistad Carl Christian Olson was my Great Grandfather and I have added a great deal of information on my Ancestry Page "Family Explorers" He was always Carl Christian Olson, Taking the Olson as the first name of his father Ole Kittleson. He and Ida 8 children - William, Effie, Otto, Carl Arthur, Ida (my great grandmother), Karolina, Mary and Johan Oscar. He came to America at 16. Worked for two years in Iowa on a farm before moving to homestead near Fosston, Otter Tail MN. He owned a store in Fosston and then moved to Antelope Montana to acquire a free homestead with his two sons, Otto and Carl. He opened a store there but in 1918? returned to Fosston MN until his passing. |
