Looking for information about a Martin Anderson born approximately 1855, who is thought to have immigrated from Lier Valley Area. Information I have says he may have a half brother Christopher. My gg grandfather Jakob Anderson, maybe his half brother as well.

Jakob's parents were Anders Johannessen and Mari Johnsdatter and he was listed as illegitimate.

Jakob immigrated to America in 1872. Martin Anderson boarded with my gg grandparents Jakob and Mathea when he arrived to America.

Martin then married Rondine Barsen in 1912 in Leer Michigan.

Your gg grandfather Jakob Andersen, his wife and children emigrated from Lier in 1872, see #90-96.
Jakob and Mathea married May 21 1866, see #16. There it says that he was born in Hole and his bapt record is #37 where it says that his mother was widow Mari Johnsdatter and the father departed widower Anders Johannesen.
If Martin should be a halfbrother born about 20 years later, Mari Johnsdatter must be his mother and the father another Anders.

The Martin found in the 1900 census most likely came from Lier, he was born out of wedlock Jan 27 1855, see #35, his mother was Stine Christophersdatter, Brurberg and the father Anders Andersen, Gunnerud.
So this Martin was not Jakobs halfbrother.
(Martin, Long Rapids, Alpena, Michigan in 1900 had been married since 1884, not 1912 as stated by the owner of the topic)

Randine left for USA with her mother and siblings in 1873.
Randine was born Sept 21 1866, see #153, her father was Bjørn Halvorsen, Enger-eiet.
Bjørn and Berthe with their first son in 1865.

As it turns out there are not that many Maritn Andersons immigrating in 1873 from Norway with birthyears of 1854 or 1855. There are none spelled Anderson and only one spelled Andersson. No other information is given in the original manifest that would help tie this Martin Andersson to the Martin Anderson from Lier.

Name: Martin Andersson
Arrival Date: 23 Jun 1873
Estimated birth year: abt 1854
