i was hoping someone might be able to give me some direction of have some information for me.

my ancestor, truls gulbrandsen, b. 1801.06.15 in lier, buskerud has parents listed in the ministerialbok as gulbrand trulssen & mari olsdatter.

i have traced gulbrand trulssen quite far back, but i have found nothing on mari olsdatter.

when i search digitalarkivets 1801 census for gulbrand trulssen, i find one listed with a wife mari nilsdatter. gulbrands age seems to work as does the area:
http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=29&filnamn=f18010626&gardpostnr=21&personpostnr=668#nedre

i cannot find any marriage info for a gulbrand trulssen/mari olsdatter, but only for a gulbrand trulssen/mari nilsdatter:
http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=recordResults&searchType=close&toYear=1801&placeId=1927171&alivePlaceLoc1=Norway&year=1774&surname=trulssen&givenName=gulbrand

i guess my question would be- is it likely that the ministerialbok for the birth of truls gulbrandsen listed the name of his mother incorrectly? or am i missing something, and this trulssen/nilsdatter combination is not the correct one i am looking for?

Hilsen,
Todd

The bapt record for your Truls Gulbrandsen is #66, his parents were then on Ersrud, same as the 1801 census.

Gulbrand Truelsen and Mari Nilsdatter, Berg was married in Modum Aug 28 1795, see 5th record from top of left page.

Their first child Birte (Berthe) was born Sept 21 1795, see 5th record on right page.
Their second child Aleth was born May 17 1798, see next to the last record on right page.
The mother for Berthe and Aleth is Mari Nilsdatter, the same as in the 1801 census. The family must have moved from Modum to Lier and the mothers name could well have been wrongly recorded.

Gulbrand Truelsen was baptized Febr 27 1774, see the 5th record from bottom of left page. His parents were Truels Gulbrandsen and Alet Madsdatter.
Mari Nielsdatter, Berg was actually baptized Maren, she was born March 7 1775, see 3rd record on right page. Her parents were Niels Johansen and Maren Rasmusdatter, Berg.
(Niels Johansen was a Godfather at Aleths baptism.)
Maris parents and her eldest brother in 1801.

i forgot to subscribe to this topic, so only found your replies now... but thank you! that helps a lot. i thought there was a good chance that her name was recorded incorrectly. things make a lot more sense now.
