Martin Norgren Davidsen, born July 14, 1877 in Hemnes, arrives in Boston june 14 1912 with the ship "Cymric"
All traces of him ends here. A friend he traveled with later told his family that he died at sea, but as we see he at least made it to Boston all right.
Does anybody know anything that can help me to find more about his life after he left Norway?

Here is a starting point for him from Ancestry.com on his arrival. Do you know anything about the Peter Balzersen listed as his friend.
The orginal manifest lists his wife as Petra Davidsen, Narvik. . His final destination is listed as Boston.

I have looked into this friend of his before. It seems like a dead end.

Someone posted at a norwegian site that Baltzersons wife Dagny lives in 604 South St., Roslindale, Boston. at the time, but i do not know the source of this information.

This is probably the same Peter, this is his US Naturalization Record. Shows him living at 67 Westland Avenue, Boston in 1925. Occupation was Violin Maker.

Yes, his draft registration card from 1918 shows him living at 2113 K Street N.W. Washington D.C. and his wife Dagny living at 604 South Street in the Roslindal neighborhood of Boston. His occupation is listed as carpenter.

I could not find either Peter or Dagney in the 1920 US Census, maybe I just missed them or it may be that they had returned to Norway during that time. Here is Peter coming back to the US in 1925. The original manifest lists him as violin maker, living in Boston and with father Ivar Boltzersen from Aakiay, Tjotta. The Peter Baltzersen trail is not proving very useful.

Well this ships manifest from 1921 would indicate that Peter was living in Norway during the 1920 US Census. The manifest lists his last permanent address as Trondhjeim Norway and his mother as Pauline Boltzersen living in Trondhjeim, Norway. No sign of Dagney in any of these ship manifests, nor of Martin for that matter.

Dagny Baltzerson died in Los Angels California in 1941. It is possible to obtain a death certificate for her. Sometimes the name of a surviving relative can be obtained from the death certificate. If this person is still alive, a big IF, such as daughter Evelyn, it may be possible to contact the surviving relative to see if they have any information on your Martin Davidsen. It is a long shot but so far we are not finding any direct information on Martin Norgren Davidsen.

My guess is that Martin changed his name upon arrival and thus disapeared in thin air to us.
Perhaps we never find him.
My grandfathers brothers were seamen all three of them and once their ships were in Boston at the same time.
They set out to find their grandfathers grave and searched around at public offices with no luck.
The youngest of them, Ivan, setteled down in the U.S a few years ago. He never did let go on his grandfathers disappearance. This was a subject on almost every familyreunion over the years.
One night I got a call from him (he never bothered himself with minor details as time difference) he said he had gotten some new information and would send me an Email with all details. I never got the Email and just a couple of weeks later he got a stroke and died.
This have made me believe that there is information somewhere, and because of that I keep on looking.

Hi,
This is an "off-the-wall" response, nothing in particular about Martin Davidsen, but expressing the hope that there must have been a consulate in Boston to help the many Norwegian citizens living there.
As an example here is an web address for disposition of early consulate records in the upper Midwest. Perhaps someone might know about possible early consulate records for Boston, whether they have been preserved, status on where they are now, etc.

Also you might want to try www.genealogybank.com to search for mentions of Martin's name in newspapers. The Look is free but downloading requires a subscription.
Was Martin a seaman also? Perhaps he appears in the Seaman's church records databases at the Norwegian Digital Archives.
It appears, from the links given earlier, that Peter Baltzerson was a violin maker. If Martin stuck around in Boston he might end up in a city directory or two...
