Thanks Anton for faddernes.

Whalan Minnesota is on the same road as Peterson between Rushford and Lanesboro,. Whalan is closer to Lanesboro and Peterson is closer to Rushford. According to Wikipedia, Whalan has an annual parade, the Stand Still Parade. The parade is stationary and and the crowd moves around it--unique?

Mina should be of interest. Her birthday 9 April is the same birthday as information the family has on Minnie Lutz. The year differs: 1879 in record and either 1880 or 1881 in the family record.

Trouble is, a man with more than one watch is never really sure what time it is.

Nice work lyndal40 and jkmarler, with great additions from descendants.

Very likely you have found Minnie! as Mina Emelia Pedersen born April 9, 1879, and baptized at Whalan Lutheran Church.

Whalan is in Holt township in Fillmore county.

Anton posted what is likely the correct family in Holt township in 1885. Minnie is age 5 in that enumeration.
1885

Here's an 1896 map of Holt township, with a John Peterson in section 21.
Holt township map

As Jackie says, Minnie Peterson birthday was April 9, as in this memorial: Minnie Peterson Lutz

John Peterson's first wife could have deserted the family, could have been institutionalized, could have died after 1885 and before 1895. If the latter, it's possible she died in Holt township and was buried from Whalan Lutheran Church.

John C Peterson is about 1/2 mile east of Peterson, Minnesota, so slightly southwest from the town of Rushford .

This doesn't have to be target John Peterson but someone born about 1846 would be eligible to be this person (allowing 5 years from proving up date of 10 May 1873, filing in 1868 would have had to have been 21 years, so born by 1847 at least. Interesting middle initial, too. By the publication date of the atlas (1896) that Jane linked to above, John C Peterson has sold his holdings in Section 28 of Rushford Township.

She lists her children's names, date and places of birth in Ridgeway or Rushford. Baptisms include Ridgeway, Rushford and Winona. One stillborn, 1913 buried on the old Burke home in the corner of baleful?? - Burke Farm.

Some typed notes from another relative that say John Peterson was born in Bergen Norway on 1851 to Peter Ole Peterson and Inger K. John's bd matches my grandmother's information but I haven't researched this yet.

This document also shows: "Inner K - 1820 - unknown. Children Peter Christian Peterson 1849 - 1912, Ingeborg Peterson 1853-1901, Paul Christian Peterson 1857-1927, and John Peterson 1851-unknown. Wrong Peter Ole Peterson? See other search results for Peter Ole Peterson."
I will continue to reach out to other relatives for more information.

Barbara, could you name her children (Florence's) and when they were born in either Rushford or Ridgeway?

Could this be Minnie's marriage, from MOMS:
FARIBAULT K-287 08/29/1908 OLSON, KNUTE C PAUCE, MINNIE A

Clavor Francis Lutz, 6th child of mother Minnie Peterson:

Listed as a single person not married. Deathdate in 1883 means she can't be alive in 1885:

This 1880 census you are bringing up is not the right John:

1880
link

1875
link

In bringing a record to the attention of the group, it's essential to post full records, with a link or a transcription. Also, please be kind and investigate it beyond just the one record that randomly floats up. Look for its context - for example, look for those people in adjacent census years.
